Ever since the bye week, rumors of Tom Cable's demise as head coach and who would replace him have been flying. Now, at season's end, these rumors have picked up speed. We've heard names like Jim Fassell, Charlie Weis, Jon Gruden, Bill Cowher, Marc Trestman, and now, Mike Leach. In the last few days, Leach's name has been mentioned regarding the Raiders far too many times just to be a simple rumor. But is Leach really what we want as a head coach? In no way am I a Tom Cable supporter. My biggest complaint against Cable is his decision making. His pass happy play-calling ...
  1. I Wish That Shane Lechler Could Get The Respect That He Deserves   No, I haven't gone completely mad. I am using my first wish of the week on that much maligned NFL player, the punter. Not just any old punter, of course, but the one who just broke an all-time NFL record for the second season running, narrowly broke another (and only failed to do so because of his own selflessness), and who was just voted to his umpteenth consecutive Pro-Bowl.   For once, the Raiders were not just mindlessly flashing money around when they made Lechler the highest paid punter in ...
Word around the campfire is that Mike Leach has drawn interest from the Silver and Black. Here are some incredibly serious reasons for and against hiring the Mad Scientist: Pros: The arrival of a former (Red) Raider who is quirky and has a fascination with pirates? Something tells me he’ll be a fan favorite right away. If Craig James ever wants to come after Leach, he’ll have to mess with the Black Hole first. A Texas Tech quarterback may finally have a place in the NFL. Oakland will definitely avoid drafting Adam James at WR, no matter what his 40 time is. An electrical closet may ...
I am not an A's fan. Have nothing against them but I instead cheer for the Phillies. The past few seasons I’ve done top 10 prospect lists for the Phillies and decided I would do one for the entire league to better expand my horizon on the prospects in MLB so here we go. Oakland’s top prospects from a Phillies fan:     1) Chris Carter-1B Coming into the season, he was rated as the best bat in the system and he proved why. He was second in the organization in average (.329) first in hits (179) second in HRs (28) first in ...
So you bought it. You thought the title was ridiculous just like me. And it was. But can he be in the future? No. You gotta stop falling for it. Anyway let me get to the point. JaMarcus Russell looked good out there. He was playing well. Until he threw an interception, and lost a fumble. This was the conversation Cable and Russell had when he got back to the sidelines. Tom Cable : What the hell were you seeing out there 'Marcus? JaMarcus Russel l: I swear he was wide open. TC : The problem was that he was wide open 3 seconds ...
Following the 2008 season, James Loften was demoted from the Oakland Raiders receivers coaching position.  At the time, the media thought Loften was fired and it was theorized the reason for the termination was because he did not get the most out of the Oakland receivers. It was a tough year for the Raiders, as usual in this day and age.  Though looking at things realistically, the Raiders had gone through two head coaches and three play callers (Lane Kiffin, Greg Knapp and Tom Cable).  Keeping a consistent passing game is a tough chore, no matter the talent level.  Loften could ...
Al Davis is at it again. The skeletal owner of the Oakland Raiders is supposedly courting former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach for the Raiders head coach position. Before I reveal how Mike Leach, Darrius Heyward-Bey, and Bruce Gradkowski are all related in a complex and heinous plot, let us review the history of Al Davis. Al Davis was not always the man we now see on television. Scriptures tell us that years ago, Al Davis was actually young. Not only was he young, but he was an established offensive line coach at esteemed programs such as USC, before beginning an illustrious ...
Fired Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach—who was terminated for allegedly punishing backup wide receiver Adam James for having a concussion—has been relatively quiet since giving his side of the story to ESPN's Rece Davis.  Things might be about to heat up as rumors are surfacing that Al Davis is considering Leach to replace head coach Tom Cable, who will apparently be fired as expected. There is no confirmation yet for the other rumor that "sheds" have been ordered in small, medium, and Jamarcus sizes, perhaps Leach can borrow some from Lubbock. Since Leach has said that he will always be a Raider, it does seem fitting ...
First Mike Leach gets fired from Texas Tech, and now he's purportedly being sought after by Al Davis to replace Tom Cable as head coach of the Oakland Raiders. See what happens when you lock players up in a closet, allegedly? To get an opportunity to coach in the NFL could be the dream of any head coach.  This, however, is the Oakland Raiders we are talking about here.  This dream is more like a nightmare. First, Lane Kiffin disagreed with Al Davis about drafting JaMarcus Russell, and now it seems that Tom Cable feels that Russell is the primary reason for the ...
With the new year in full swing, the A's need to stick to their New Year's resolution and continue to get younger and stronger. However, with the recent offseason moves made by Billy Beane, it's hard not to notice that they've strayed just a tiny bit from their Youth Movement. The A's third base situation is probably their biggest priority, since they've traded away top prospect Brett Wallace to Toronto in exchange for another highly regarded prospect, Michael Taylor. Now, the A's have Jake Fox to provide some kind of insurance to the injury-prone Eric Chavez. The A's also have invited Dallas ...
