Here at B/R we are lucky enough to have a community of fans who take pride in their teams and the players they draft. With all the mock drafts that are popping up why not have a mock that lets the fans choose who their team should pick? Here’s the list of the selections so far. 1. Rams take QB Jimmy Clausen 2. Lions take DT Ndamukong Suh 3. Buccaneers take DT Gerald McCoy 4. Redskins take OT Russell Okung 5. Chiefs take S Eric Berry 6. Seahawks take OT Bruce Campbell 7. Browns take CB Joe Haden Okay Raider Nation it’s your turn. We know for you the draft ...
It has been a long, long time since the Oakland Raiders had a truly great linebacker.  I’m not talking about fairly good, or satisfactory. I mean a genuine standout player. Kirk Morrison is good in many ways, but has his weaknesses in others.  Greg Beikert played competently for a decade but was never in serious consideration for the Pro Bowl.  In fact, you have to go all the way back to the days of Rod Martin, Ted Hendricks, and Matt Millen to find a linebacking crew that struck fear into the hearts of the opposition. In the 2010 Draft it seems that ...
It seems everyone has an opinion as to the poor performance of the Oakland Raiders in recent years.  Some say its QB play. Some say it’s the defense. Still others say it’s the coaching staff or the ownership. They’re all right in some way; it's a combination of all of these.  The following is just one old coach’s opinion. Let’s start with the symptoms of the problem…no points on the board, a defense that hasn’t stopped the run since 2002 and seven straight years with at least eleven losses… Let me make something perfectly clear…I am NOT going defend the horrific play, ...
With Spring Training right around the corner the Oakland Athletics should be eager to see how much their offseason moves will help their team grow and develop into perennial playoff contenders. The A's added veteran CF Coco Crisp, a career .277/.331/.407 hitter, to the outfield mix. But with top-prospect, OF Michael Taylor (acquired via trade with Toronto) waiting in the minors, fans were rather upset to see the A's dish out $4.5 million to Crisp. But with Crisp now in center, Rajai Davis (.305/.360/.423 in '09) will shift over to left-field with Ryan Sweeney playing in right. The addition of Crisp highlights ...
I am sick and tired of the constant bashing of JaMarcus.   The bashers don't know the man outside of what they see and hear on TV yet are fast to make outrageous assumptions and indulge in character assassination. Who the F*** are you to judge a young man's heart—especially if you don't know him? My opinions of JaMarcus are so far to the other side of the spectrum that it pains me and completely boggles my mind to hear this constant garbage. In my opinion, I see a young QB WHO HAS ALREADY displayed ...
In this article, I’m going to give you a list of free agents with recent ties to the new coaches who were just added to the Oakland Raiders coaching staff. The coaches include, Hue Jackson; former Baltimore Ravens QB’s coach and now Oakland Raiders Offensive Coordinator, Clancy Pendergast; Former Defensive Coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Arizona Cardinals and now DB coach for the Oakland Raiders, and Mike Waufle; former New York Giants defensive line coach who accepted the same position with the Oakland Raiders. This is certainly not a list of probable free agents signings, but this is ...
Change is a sensitive topic in America today. What does it really mean?  For the Oakland Raiders and Al Davis, things change, but not for the good. We change head coaches almost every season. We change our players. We change almost everything.  One thing we don't change is our record. Every season, since 2003, the Raiders have lost at least 11 games. Al Davis doesn't have a policy to change that. It has been proven time after time. He just doesn't get how to make a winning team anymore. He doesn't get that you can't change coaches every season. Most players are interchangeable, but coaches ...
As we look back on the 2009 season for the Oakland Raiders, we see that there were double digit frequencies of injuries. But it seems there were a declining number of injuries of the Oakland Raiders as the season progressed to week 17. That's a bit of good news. The weeks of the 2009 season when our players had a tough time were weeks 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 16. During those weeks we had injuries that were double digits. Here is the table: Week        Number of Injuries   1 7 2 6 3 8 4 10 5 10 6 10 7 12 8 12 10 9 11 6 13 6 14 6 15 9 16 10 17 8 The graph of the data may give you more insight into what happened in this category ...
Al Davis has started something. He has made history by hiring the first African American head coach during the modern era (Art Shell), and the highest ranking female in the NFL (CEO, Amy Trask). More historical facts are among his accolades. Now on Bleacher Report , we have another finding that makes history for the Raider Nation. Of the 32 top writers for the NFL teams, according to a tally on Feb. 8, the Oakland Raiders' team page has made history. Here is the list of top B/R writers on the team pages (these ranks can be very fluid so that is why I ...
This offseason is the most crucial offseason for Oakland in years. Their last three first round picks, included a QB, RB and WR, and this year they hold the 8th pick of the draft. Jamarcus Russell, Darren Mcfadden and Darrius Heyward-Bey were drafted to turn this franchise around, and this will be their second offseason together. The Cowboys had a simliar run, in which they drafted their WR, QB then RB, and those three players led them to win championships. The Raider triplets have had a rough start, but they aren't alone in this quest. I will focus on players ...
