Drafted out of Arkansas with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft, the former two-time Doak Walker award winner, and Heisman runner-up, has yet to experience the same success with the Raiders, due to a variety of stumbling blocks. McFadden’s 2009 campaign was hampered by nagging injuries, causing him to miss four games, and see very limited action in several others.
In the games he did play in, he produced little to no fantasy value for his owners, registering double-digit carries only four times, and failing to rush for 100 yards in any single game.
The abysmal state ...
According to the Oakland Raiders, 30 year old veteran running back Justin Fargas was released by the team after failing a physical Saturday.
A few days ago Adam Schefter reported Fargas, along with Gerrard Warren, would be released before their roster bonuses were due and it would seem he is at least half right so far.
Though it is unlikely, Fargas signing with another team or even with the Raiders again is not completely out of the question.
So with it almost certain Justin Fargas won't be wearing silver and black next year, what does that mean for the rest of the team?
Many ...
It is one of those choices, that isn't easy for anyone.
The Chargers had to let LT go, when all the player had done was spend nine years trying to reach the Super Bowl.
For the Raiders, today was Justin's turn. For the recap, Justin Fargas came to Oakland from USC, not exactly Marcus Allen, but not exactly Nick Bell, either.
Fargas, drafted in the third round of the 2003 draft, did not see any major starting times until the 2006 year, which was also the season of Art Shell. Even considering everything, Fargas put up 659 yards and a touchdown.
Fargas would go ...
The Oakland Raiders are in no rush to sign anyone of the remaining unrestricted free agents in the league. They did, however, make a move to sign one of their own guys, offensive tackle Khalif Barnes.
So what does the signing of Barnes mean for the Raiders going forward?
Well, let’s start from the start. Originally, Khalif was brought in to compete with Mario Henderson for the starting left tackle position. Unfortunately, at the beginning of training camp in 2009, he suffered a broken ankle.
Barnes would not return to the practice field until about week six of the regular season. ...
So every now and then, Adam Schefter gets it right with the Oakland Raiders. Or half right anyway.
Two days ago, Schefter blogged that the Raiders were about to release running back Justin Fargas and defensive tackle Gerard Warren. Checking the Raiders web page today, it confirmed that Fargas had been released by the club.
Prior to his release, it was rumoured that the Raiders would part company with both Fargas and Warren as they intended to rebuild with younger players. That doesn’t seem to be the case, as the Raider's transaction update was quite specific as to the reason for Fargas’s ...
Adam Shefter is at it again, and this time he got one right. He has reported that Justin Fargas has been released from the Oakland Raiders. Fargas has even been removed from the current roster on the Raiders main website, Raiders.com. This means that the Darren Mcfadden and Michael Bush show is on for 2010.
This move wasn't much of a surprise. The Raiders have two young backs, including the No. 4 overall pick in 2008, Mcfadden, and 2007 draft steal Bush ready to take on the load. This should make the running game more fluid, and should provide more consistency for both backs.
Fargas isn't alone. ...
All types of muscle are needed on the football field. Brainpower to out-think the opponent is a type of muscle that leads teams to victories.
Ted Henricks was a physics major during his college days. Later, he relaxed by doing math problems during his leisure moments.
Hendricks has been described as eccentric, but certainly he was smart. An article says:
"Eccentric as they come: Born in Guatemala, where his father was employed at the time, Hendricks was a physics major at UM and was well-known for relaxing by doing math problems. He took the hardest classes off the field and took on the hardest ...
Al Davis and the Raiders have thrown away a lot of money trying to find a quick solution to start winning games. Now it looks as if Raider fans are taking the same road, and ready to throw away more money on something that just isn't going to work.
Last Dec., a fellow member of the Raider Nation caused a media stir by raising money from other Raider Nation fans, and posting a billboard up that sent a simple message to Davis. "Mr Davis, do the right thing please, hire a GM."
Let me say up front, that I believe that it is ...
For the players, coaches, owners and agents out there, it had to feel like the holiday season, all over again.
The salary cap was off and over 500 players—some with strings, and some free for the taking—went on the market to kick off the free agency period.
Some shocks were announced, like Jake Delhomme, ditched after a poor season. The Jets picked up a cornerback, and the Raider Nation can breathe easier for two reasons.
It wasn't Asomugha...it was Antonio Cromartie from the Chargers, who will play alongside Revis.
For the Raider Nation though, it was almost anti-climactic.
Anquan Boldin moved out, leaving the Cards ...
Forty college students at a university in Texas enjoyed a forum between Damali Binta and another Bleacher Writer on Mar. 5, 2010. They got a chance to read two BR writers comments on the usefulness and appropriateness of certain types of information when analyzing or training NFL football players, especially the Oakland Raiders .
It was a good encounter, and no one got upset or drifted down to four letter words. You know what I mean!
Jay Dee's article broadened our awareness of the fact that there are four quarterbacks on the Raiders team, but most of us seem to focus on just two of them. Since the other two ...
