A better question is: Is nearly a decade of suffering enough for the man that calls the shots to finally admit that his way is not working and that change needs to happen in order for greatness to return to this once powerful and feared franchise?
I mean, in all reality, how much time does he really have left? Does he want to go out with his team competing or depleting? Time will tell, and for all those that are sure this is impossible, it's not.
The reason? Timing. It's everything.
The fact that a young man just across the Bay, successful at ...
There are some big questions left to answer for the Oakland Raiders heading into the 2010 season, and whilst many of them might be answered on draft day, it is difficult to imagine all of them being answered in a single draft.
The Raiders have been very quiet in free agency so far, and the one real move of note was the acquisition of Kamerion Wimbley from Cleveland for a third round pick.
So what questions still remain to be answered?
Who Will Play Right Tackle?
That is one of the biggest priorities this offseason, to improve the offensive line, starting at the right ...
This entry is dedicated to the backup Quarterback. Some have fans chanting for their insertion into games. Some have fans begging for their non involvement.
The life of the career backup is tenuous or tedious. It depends on the team they are on. Many backups rarely played behind guys like Ron Jaworski or Brett Favre, while quite a few played behind guys like Jim McMahon and Chris Chandler.
Here are a few great backups in no particular order : Begin Slideshow
In this article, like the Top 10 Pitchers article is a project given to me by Bleacherreport.com, I guarantee will forget some major personalities since I've been alive for roughly 1/4 of the franchise's history. I'm going to take a crack at it anyway. If I see I've forgotten significant enough people I WILL revise. That's half the fun in this assignment is that I get to learn about the history of the A's.
There have been some big personalities from Billy Ball to Rickey's wacky 3rd person cockiness.Begin Slideshow
So many folks write about the Oakland Raiders. How many have written about the Raiderettes?
Here is an article for you to peruse. It all started when I saw a video about the Raidettes who visited our military overseas.
I know the Raiderettes are agile and rhythmic enough to jump, do splits, and dance the night away. They do more than dance and smile.
They actually do community service and public relations type work as well. Did you know that?
I did a little research and read the pdf application on a website. There are some very interesting questions on the application for young ladies above ...
OK, we've looked at one potential option, with the Raiders moving up.
The ideas abound, from us going into the top three, swapping off a key player in the secondary and hoping that everything turns out well.
The risk, is that opposing teams would eat us alive in the passing game and the running game isn't scared of one extra lineman.
The second idea, is what about the Raiders trading down?
Oakland owns the No. 8 pick, about the line where top-notch players end or a team can start jockeying for position, looking at say, Jimmy Clausen or a package of picks for a ...
I decided to begrudgingly write this article, because the topic won't go away. That topic of course is whether the Oakland Raiders should trade cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
Asomugha is easilya top-three cornerback in the NFL, along with Charles Woodson and Darrelle Revis. Personally, I would give Nnamdi a slight edge, because Woodson and Revis are part of better overall defenses.
I would only trade Asomugha on one condition—if the Raiders can move into the top three of the NFL Draft and select either DT Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy.
Detroit seems like the only possibility, because the Lions could trade down and still ...
The NFL Draft is a month away and the offseason hasn't been too exciting in Oakland. The Raiders have released aging veterans and have traded for Kamerion Wimbley.
The Raiders have some restricted free agents who have not signed their tenders yet, and there are some restricted free agents available who could help fill some needs the Raiders have.
Lets take a look at some moves the Raiders should look at making before draft time rolls around.Begin Slideshow
In the 2007 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders selected JaMarcus Russell with the first overall pick. Many hoped that he would be the first piece of the puzzle to turning the Raiders' fortunes around.
Four years later, he has turned into the franchises worst nightmare. Poor mobility, poor accuracy, poor decision making, and a poor attitude have all contributed to his failures as a starting quarterback.
Following Bruce Gradkowski's success late in the 2009 season, the writing may be on the wall for the JaMarcus as a starter, or even as a backup. Not only does JaMarcus make terrible decisions, but the ...
As I stated in the pre-cursor to this article, "Yet ANOTHER Oakland Raiders Mock Draft: Rounds 1-4", I don't actually believe that I will get any of these picks correct. This part of the mock will not be any different. It's just more shooting in the dark.
The later rounds of the draft is where Al Davis seems to excel. Brandon Meyers and Louis Murphy both came in later rounds and have produced for the Raiders. Davis' track record of finding gems late in the draft is legendary.
What follows is my take on what Davis might do this year.
With the seventh ...
