Twelve months ago the NFL Owners’ opted out of the CBA and set in motion aseries of events that are gathering pace at alarming speed. Twelve months ago we were informed that the 2010 season would be an uncapped year and there would be restrictions on free agency movement. We as fans thought this was figuratively light years away.Well, it has arrived and is having a serious impact on the landscape of the NFL.Clearly it is in the owners’ interests not to have a salary cap as consequently they are not committed or hindered to a minimum salary cap figure ($112 million ...
In the NFL draft the Oakland Raiders seem to be one of the most unpredictable teams. But given the teams drafting history it is known that they have a nack for drafting players who they invite to private workouts or show interest in prior to the draft. Last year Darius Hayward-Bey, Michael Mitchell and Louis Murphy were all invited to private workouts at the Raider facility and they were all drafted. So far this year the Raiders have shown interest or invited a few prospects to the facility thus far. Here is a list of players the Raiders have attended personal workouts for or ...
I am generally a bigger fan of the 4-3 defense than the 3-4 alignment. One of the reasons is I like the emphasis it puts on the pass rush and pressuring the outside lanes for running backs and scrambling QB's. But one of the things that makes me nervous about the 4-3 is the added pressure it puts on those three linebackers to cover as much territory as possible. Columbia's shift to the 4-3 last season had mixed results for the linebackers. But you have to consider the fact that superstar linebacker Alex Gross ...
The Oakland Raiders have a chance to get a few things right. The NFL draft will start on Thursday evening rather than on the traditional Saturday. Program your television, and log on to your computers to watch each and every minute of it. That's what I am going to do. A lot of people have named a lot of players who they believe can strengthen the Oakland Raiders. All I can say, is get in there and get some of that good, rough, fearless talent to enhance our team. Some bloggers say the schedule change is not good. Let's make it good by ...
As draft time approaches, it is natural to look back at your team's recent draft picks.  For Oakland Raiders fans, looking back at the draft may not be an easy thing. The Raiders will own a top 10 pick for the fifth year in a row. Their last four first round picks have yet to make the impact that is expected of a 10 pick. Michael Huff, JaMarcus Russell, Darren McFadden, and Darrius Heyward-Bey all have yet to validate their top 10 selection. Luckily for Raiders fans, the draft goes beyond the first round, and they have plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Emerging young stars like ...
The NFL Draft now stands less then two weeks away, which means it's time to update my mock. My last mock draft was in February, so I have a lot to update. What do I guarantee you in this draft? Surprises. I will admit there are reaches at these picks, but there is no mock that is perfect. You need to expect trades and surprises. So to spare you for a moment, here is what I will say right up front. Jimmy Clausen will be a Seahawk, CJ Spiller doesn't land in Seattle, and the Raiders make a surprise pick ( go figure), ...
Yet another perfect example of when "so called" fans team up with those who hate the Raiders to discredit the organization. They believe anything ESPN reports even when it comes from unnamed sources.  Congratulations jerks!  You are the reason why ESPN gets away withthis organization bashing. Even today, the local papers are trying to sell this garbage thanks to you. When McNabb was asked on ESPN Radio, What what you have done if you were traded to the Raiders? I would have been working out and getting ready....Would you have retired?  Mcnabb laughed..See this is the problem with so called key analysts these ...
Terrell Owens is a Hall of Fame wide reciever, much like another Hall of Fame reciever by the name of Jerry Rice. During his first four years, Owens played with Jerry Rice. Owens undoubtedly learned most of his skills from Rice, whether it be running better routes, not dropping balls, knowing how to beat the press or double team on field awarness. Terrell Owen can do the same for our three young, talented wide recievers in Darius Heyward-Bey, Louis Murphy and Chaz Schilens.Read more Oakland Raiders news on BleacherReport.com
I remember watching Michael Bush play at Louisville and thinking to myself that he was going to be a beast in the NFL. After an unfortunate broken leg ended his college career early in 2006, Bush went from a potential Top-10 pick to a speculative and risky selection for teams since his leg wasn't completely healed entering the 2007 draft. When the Raiders selected Bush with the first pick of the fourth round of the 2007 NFL draft, I was convinced that Al Davis was a drafting genius. Davis understood his potential and got him on the cheap—the old wizard had struck ...
This NFL off-season has been an interesting one for the Oakland Raiders. Since 2003, Raider Nation has been accustomed to big spending in free agency, in many cases on retread players, and questionable trades. Then the "Al Davis is crazy" program would iterate and eventually, even the players, fans, and employees would start to believe it and lose confidence in the team; merely showing up in order to get paid and make any attempt possible to distance themselves from Al Davis. Much of that iteration is fueled by the fact that Al Davis is indifferent towards opinions about him and his decisions, because ...
