I really do believe that if you set your mind to something, it manifests itself and becomes noticeable to others. I started a blend of sports and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) exactly one year ago, in April 2009.
The focus of my data collection is centered on the history of the Oakland Raiders, all put in the context of the history of the NFL.
Now that April 2010 has been declared "Mathematics and Sports Month" you can be certain that the Oakland Raiders are at the forefront in having more articles with mathematics and statistics mentioned than any other team page ...

Now that April 2010 has been declared "Mathematics and Sports Month" you can be certain that the Oakland Raiders are at the forefront in having more articles with mathematics and statistics mentioned than any other team page ...
While everyone continues to harp on JaMarcus Russell and Darrius Heyward-Bey for their poor play, another Raider has been given far too much leniency.
Coming out of the University of Arkansas, Darren McFadden's stock could not have been higher.
ESPN put him on their cover and NFL analysts quickly anointed him the best player in the draft.
One thing nobody could argue about was his body of work. McFadden's resume stood for itself and showed no weaknesses.
Here is just a small sampling of what McFadden accomplished while at Arkansas:
His senior year, McFadden rushed for over 1,600 yards and had 150 yards receiving.
He ...
Have you ever heard stories of bullies who attack other children, and send them home in tears? If you are a parent, you probably pulled your child to the side, and gave him or her a good talk.
It may have gone like this: There are no wimps in this family. You get your tail back to that playground and if a kid attacks you, you protect yourself and fight back.
Now, that may not be right, but I admit that was what my father told my baby brother. And he learned to defend himself.
Well, the Oakland Raiders have been sent home ...
Some folks in the Raider Nation want to bring back the "nasty" in the Oakland Raiders. Earlier this article was posted and it fell off the radar.
I dedicate this article to the young Oakland Raiders on the roster in 2010.
It is pertinent enough to be highly considered before the draft this month.
Let's just say that if we "bring back the nasty" aggressive, fearless, and daredevil type Oakland Raiders, let's hope they can turn their switches off, when they are off the football field.
The Article
There is a light switch in my office that is not predictable. I flip it on, the ...
I've read some of the articles about why Bruce Gradkowski isn't worthy or talented enough to start for the Raiders. I got curious today and decided to "debunk/question" the major three reasons.
"Bruce is too short, skinny, small, fragile, etc"
Let's compare his size to two different QB's
Gradkowski: 6'1'', 220lbs
Troy Smith: 6'0'', 225 lbs
Drew Brees: 6'0'', 209 lbs
Those against Gradkowski starting generally say Smith should be the starter in Oakland. Not much of a difference, since Gradkowski is one inch taller and Troy is five pounds heavier.
Wait a minute, this can't be right. Gradkowski is taller and heavier than the 2009 Superbowl ...
After reading " Military Service Credit for Federal Civilian Retirement" , I was reminded of the situation imposed on some NFL players during the era when America had a mandatory draft into the United States military.
There were a few good men who had their careers interrupted in the NFL, causing a gap in their career length. This issue needs to be reexamined. This issue has affected a few Oakland Raiders who played professional football in the '60s.
NFL football is a part of the fabric of America.
It has been instrumental in helping America keep the morale of the people lifted during times of economic stress ...
Of all the things the media have said in the last few seasons, how many have had you say bias is rampant in the media?
Too many to count.
A recent piece of verbal vomit, coughed up a couple days ago, leaked onto Yahoo! and then down the front of the NFL Blogs section, that needs to be addressed.
Joe Theismann, this one is for you.
First and foremost, I'm sure deep down Joe is not that stupid. He went to college. He won a Super Bowl against the Dolphins, and then got cold-clocked by the Raiders the following Super Bowl.
And who can forget the ...
The image still burns brightly in my mind.
There the frog was, sitting in a putrid swamp, strumming a banjo, and singing about how difficult it was to wear his colors. I thought, "What a weak, pathetic creature."
Why not?
I was in the prime of my life, and my favorite NFL team, the Los Angeles Raiders, had won their second Super Bowl.
Life was good. At no time did I question my Silver and Black colors. And yet as I gazed at the TV, this amphibian—much like New England Patriots fans of the '80s—showed little faith in its banner as "people passed them ...
With the 2010 NFL draft less than two weeks away, opinions about what would be the best thing for Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders to do come Thursday, April 22nd are rampant.
Since Davis is so keen on not tipping his hand, fans are left to wonder, prognosticate, and argue over the options that present themselves with the eighth pick.
Some say it must be an offensive tackle, some want a defensive tackle, still others want Al to trade down to get more picks. The truth is that all of these scenarios would be good for the Raiders in some way ...
