While We're Dreaming...
The Oakland Raiders have a myriad of issues within the organization. Some say it's all Al Davis' fault, others say it's due to the media portraying the team as dysfunctional. Whatever the case, things have not been going in the right direction lately.
Questionable first round draft choices, a continuous coaching carousel, and the inability to attract high profile free agents and coaches have all contributed to the downfall of this once great franchise.
All of these issues have led to losing. Losing is something Raider fans just can't stomach anymore.
So, what's the solution?
In a 2008 interview, Al Davis suggested ...
The Oakland Raiders are bringing back offensive linemen Khalif Barnes and Langston Walker next season.
These moves could mean that the Raiders are not looking to add an offensive lineman in the first round. This is interesting because the Raiders offensive line allowed the most sacks per pass attempt last season.
The Raiders did deal with injuries on the offensive line losing Khalif Barnes and Robert Gallery early in the year. Perhaps the Raiders feel confident that Tom Cable can get this unit going, now that he won't be calling plays.
Mario Henderson has been working hard this offseason and looks to start at ...
Not too many people outside of Ohio knew who Jameson Konz of Kent State is; well, that was until Kent State's Pro Day where only the Cleveland Browns attended and were witness to an amazing athletic display of skill from the Golden Flash.
Now that word has spread of Konz's skill level, more and more teams are scheduling private workouts with him including the Oakland Raiders.
This is no surprise because, as you will see once his measureables are listed, Konz is really an Al Davis-type of player.
But before the measureables, here is a little history on Konz.
Konz came to Kent ...
If you think for a minute Donovan McNabb doesn't cringe at the thought of playing in Oakland, or would even consider extending his contract for us, then you are kidding yourself.
Donovan McNabb does not want to play in Oakland. He wants to play for a contender.
McNabb doesn't want to play behind a porous offensive line with an undersized center and young receivers with suspect hands.
But apparently most fans don't care, and I'm sure Al Davis could care less.
Some have even gone as far as to suggest McNabb would refuse a trade to the Raiders. Unfortunately for McNabb, that is impossible, ...
Donovan McNabb is the latest player on the Raiders' radar according to multiple media reports. Also according to reports, McNabb is not interested in becoming a Raider.
The Raiders haven't had a winning season since 2002, and they are trying to change that by adding a proven veteran at quarterback. Adding McNabb would make them better, but that won't solve their biggest problem.
The Raiders have a weak offensive line that contributed to JaMarcus Russell's poor play. It also helped contribute to Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye getting injured.
The last thing a 33-year-old quarterback, who is not too fond of using his ...
All senior citizens are not senile. Some of them maintain their mental clarity and powerful intelligence until the end.
Al Davis may be in this category. Years ago, he was described as a man who "ruthlessly attempted to gain power."
What makes you think he has changed?
One example of the ability of Davis to outthink and outwit his opponent are his dealings with F. Wayne Valley (1914-1986). Research shows that Valley, a linebacker and fullback, was one of the original owners of the Oakland Raiders.
Valley was also a founding member of the American Football League.
Competitive
Davis has been described as extremely competitive. It ...
After years of being a seller, A’s GM Billy Beane spent the winter of 2008-09 in the uncharacteristic role of buyer, adding OF Matt Holliday (via trade) and 1B/DH Jason Giambi (via free agency).
At this time last winter I wrote the moves “(had) placed the organization in a position where it can either compete for the division title or, if the team is non-competitive in mid-summer, flip soon-to-be-free-agent Holliday for prospects at the trade deadline.”
Well, for the third consecutive season the team was not competitive and, as predicted, Holliday was shipped off to the St Louis Cardinals in exchange for ...
The NFL will be announcing the complete 2010 schedule, along with all of its primetime games sometime in mid-April. However, the league did manage to release its exhibition schedule.
Taking a closer look at the Oakland Raiders' four exhibition games, I found it to be very interesting and perhaps even revealing about Donovan McNabb’s future with the organization.
Don’t believe in conspiracies? How about Bigfoot or little green men? Well, now’s your chance to call me crazy—I mean, it sounds ridiculous, but my theory just might have legs.
The more I think about it, the more it feels like something the “marketing machine” of the NFL ...
In shocking news today, Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis announced the signing of Cornbread.
Cornbread, largely unknown, attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, from 2002 to 2006. He was born in Fargo, North Dakota.
Cornbread joined the Australian American Football Association (AAFA) and played for the Sydney Crocodiles, Canberra Dundees, and Melbourne Dingos.
"This starts a new era of Raiders football," Davis said. "Cornbread will become an elite quarterback for the Raiders, and may go down as the greatest of all time."
"...Of all time!" Davis added.
This is the first time that a player from the AAFA has gone on to the NFL. Davis believes that ...
Admittedly, that headline is intended to be hyperbolic. I do have a point here however.
This offseason has seen a flurry of rumors around the Oakland Raiders, many regarding who will be the quarterback in 2010.
Donovan McNabb has been a hot topic recently, because historically Al Davis has traded high-picks for players that have only a year left on their contract. In most circles, that reasoning makes no sense.
Just recently, Mr. Davis traded a 3rd round pick for a rental player in Kamerion Wimbley from the Browns. Wimbley has only a season left on his contract.
Not only that, but coach Tom ...
