With the big year Darrelle Revis had in 2009, it looks like All-World cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has a new rival. Revis killed it this past season with 6 INTs and 31 pass deflections. He has been given credit for shutting down the likes of Terell Owens, Chad Ochocinco, Andre Johnson, and Steve Smith in 2009. The brash corner is a great fit for the New York media as being in New York and playing on the league's best defensive unit has brought the name "Revis Island" to the fore.  Meanwhile, Asomugha and everything that comes with him compares modestly to that of ...
Many NFL fans are brainwashed into believing that the Quarterback position is the most important ingredient to a championship team, despite players like Ty Law, Darren Sharper, Ray Lewis, Dwight Freeney, Darrelle Revis and so on. Over the years we have seen terrible Quarterbacks such as Jake Delhomme and Trent Dilfer play in the Superbowl behind great defenses and solid running games. Yet the Quarterback seems to get all the praise for a teams success, and in some cases blame for a lack thereof. It is more profitable for the NFL to promote one player as the "Face" of the franchise in ...
As you probably know, Eric Chavez is back on the disabled list with what an MRI shows to be a bulging disk in his neck. Chavez admits that the new injury may be career threatening, but he is unwilling to make any decisions about retirement at this time. Chavez should seriously consider wrapping up his career. Adding neck issues to his many past back problems suggests that he’s going to have life long problems with his spinal cord, even if Chavez never plays baseball again. He isn’t helping the A’s, either. And as a designated hitter that can’t hit, he’s taking up ...
So the Raiders didn’t get Donovan McNabb. A lot of Raiders fans, including myself, were on the edge of their seats hoping and praying for a chance to finally get a real quarterback this off-season. When the McNabb rumors started swirling I was glued to the computer screen and TV. I even opened a twitter account just to follow Adam Schefter’s updates. When the trade didn’t happen, I feared the worst. Russell would be behind center, on the ground and in media every week while the Raiders limped to another 11 loss season. Why not let Bruce ...
The Raiders have had a great offseason thus far including the draft, trades and free agency. But they still haven't done enough yet to fill every hole they had. The o-line still looks shaky, they are in need of a big defensive tackle to clog the middle, their receivers are young and inexperienced and they could still improve on the defensive backfield. Here's a look at some free agents still available that the Raiders should seriously consider.Begin Slideshow
For Oakland to rise to the next level, the WR corps needs to improve, rapidly. Last season the Raiders went through a period of six different weeks where they scored seven points or less. For the season, their best option was from the Tight End position, and Zach Miller's skills. The talent that the Raiders bring to the table are as follows: Louis Murphy led the WRs with 34 catches and picked up four touchdowns. He had a total of 521 yards, not too shabby for a rookie. Next up is Chaz Schilens, who is currently healing again. Last year an injury limited him, but ...
Suddenly, seven years of futility is washed away with one player—and all it cost the Raiders was $40 million. It's almost eerie how the Oakland Raiders organization transferred so many years of hate, anger and frustration onto one player, whom is now gone. But I get it. The Raiders have been redeemed. No more fat, lazy, black QB to blame. Now the Raiders can concentrate on fixing their porous run defense, which has been perennially at the bottom of the league statistically. They can address the faulty O-Line, which has sabotaged many a quarterback over the past few seasons (see ...

What could be so great about a 21-13 loss to close the season? The answer is that nothing can teach you more about your team than playing a good team. Your weaknesses will be revealed and exploited. The loss will leave the last taste in your mouth about the season so the offseason becomes a much clearer path. The Ravens were a playoff team last year and playing them showed us that the Raiders were not that far off as they lost 21-13. This is the loss that saved Oakland! It revealed things on both sides of the ball that were killing the Raiders. Two of these players are no longer with ...
B/R Senior Analyst Ramone Brown recently wrote an article about regardless how much potential the Oakland Raiders' young receivers have, they still need to improve when it comes to catching the ball. I want to say that I fully agree, 100 percent. Throughout the article, Brown gave statistical evidence that proved his point comparing Oakland recievers to other NFL receivers who are notorious for having many drops. He did a good job in stating facts about the Raiders' receiving corps, rather than just open criticism and bashing. Though in the comments section there was plenty of debate as who the blame belonged to: ...
