The Oakland A's are currently in a battle between two other teams for the American League West title. The A's have some things that they need to work out to even consider being in contention for the division. So, here are the seven things the A's must do in order to win the American League West division. Begin Slideshow
At this point, Raider Nation can breathe some fresh air, because the climate in Oakland seems to be on the upswing now that JaMarcus Russell is gone.  Nevertheless, the negative opinions of Russell do not justify false information from being propagated. Even though Raider Nation may disagree on the broad topics related to JaMarcus Russell, I think we can all agree that ESPN will make stuff up about the Raiders.  In part, because the people at ESPN dislike being locked out by Al Davis. ESPN however, cannot even get a simple story right.  After the Raiders released Russell, Bill Williamson of ESPN's ...
Terrell Owens is still unemployed. In this economy, that wouldn't be such a shocking statement if it wasn't for the fact that Terrell Owens is arguably the greatest wide receiver of all time. (Yes, I said it!) After spending a horrible year with the Buffalo Bills, where Terrell Owens grabbed five touchdowns to add to his career achievements, he wasn't re-signed and opted to leave to find greener pastures. The problem is...there is no market for the 36-year-old receiver. Cincinnati was interested, but they did not opt to sign him. Baltimore filled their receiver ...
Who throws the ball?  Who caught the football?  The answers to the two questions are connected. This article is inspired by an article on the greatness of Daryle Lamonica. I agree he is and was great.  The reports on determining what makes a quarterback great are somewhat incomplete, in this writer's opinion.  Here is the article link. For some time now, this writer has been concerned about articles that uplift the image of the great quarterbacks, with minimal reference to those who caught the football that the quarterback threw. How can a quarterback be classified as great without a sufficient amount of ...
We all know the beginning of the story: Rolando McClain was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the No. 8 pick in the NFL draft in April.  Since being drafted, McClain has been viewed by many as the savior of the Raiders defense, and in particular, the run defense.  McClain will surely benefit the Raiders greatly, but how long will it be until we see him pay dividends? I can remember four other Raiders who were drafted high and haven't yet shown us why they were drafted that high.  Michael Huff, JaMarcus Russell, Darren McFadden and Darrius Heyward-Bey were all thrown into ...
Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders worked vigorously this off-season to add key components to the offense. On paper, the offense looks pretty good. However, we have heard that off-season after off-season yet during the season Oakland's offense is a total failure. Why should this year be any different? Here's a look at why it will be better, or why it won't.   Why No 1. In Jason Campbell, the Raiders have a legitimate Quarterback. When I was watching day 2 of the draft, I had no idea that the Raiders had a franchise-changing trade like this up their sleeve (I had suspected Morrison would ...
Richard Seymour is still a no-show in Oakland, and Albert Haynesworth is still not happy with Washington. Would it make sense for both teams to consider a swap for both players? The answer is yes. Al Davis should be on the phone with Daniel Snyder or Mike Shanahan to get this deal done yesterday. This move could benefit both teams and both players as well. Let's take a look at five reasons why this move would benefit Oakland.Begin Slideshow
This is going to be a very short and simple article. With all due respect to the other Bleacher Report writers that have presented good points, I contend that all Jason Campbell will have to do is get the 5-11 Raiders to a 9-7 record in 2010, and everything will be fine. The past two years, a 9-7 record has been good enough to make the playoffs, and in '08 the Chargers made it with a record of 8-8. There is no need for him to throw for 4,000+ yards with a 105 QB rating. While I hate the term "game manager" that gets ...
If you have the unfortunate habit of paying attention to the national Major League Baseball buzz (as I do), you witness a lot of apparently misinformed feet sliding into mouths. For instance, check this bit of nonsense touting the National League East as the best division in baseball. Uhh... Forget about the 800-pound gorilla wearing the American League East jersey for a moment and check the head-to-head between the Senior Circuit's coastal divisions. The so-called best division in the Show is four games under .500 against the NL West. Take out the Los Angeles Dodgers' slow start and that margin balloons to NINE games, ...
I've been hearing rumors around the Raider camp fire about signing Flozell Adams and, I have to say, I couldn't agree less.  I know, the Raiders are in need on the O line. I know, he's 6'7", 350 (hence the nickname Flozell "The Hotel" Adams.) I know, he was a five-time Pro Bowl left tackle with the Cowboys. He would have made six straight Pro Bowl appearances had he not torn his ACL in 2005. But don't you think there is a reason such a premiere offensive lineman such as Adams is still on the market? Here's a $67,500 reason: Flozell Adams is ...
