First, introductions. In homage to the pulling power of the Raider Nation, I'm an Oakland fan living in jolly ol' England. Why do I love the Raiders? Well I'm an NFL fan first and foremost, but I tagged on to the Raiders in 2000 for the simple reason that they have all the traits of my home town soccer team, Newcastle United. Newcastle United have fanatic support, known around Europe as "The Toon Army". Sounds like jibberish, but "Toon" is actually how we pronounce "Town" up here in the north of England. I'm not joking, we do....... Newcastle also has a history ...
And the road gets even more difficult! If I'm correct with my analysis in the two previous parts of this series, the Oakland Raiders will bring a 6-2 record into week nine of the 2010 NFL season. But can the winning continue? It's possible, but winning in the third quarter of the season will a tall order to say the least. Let's take a look. Week Nine: The Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are an improved team from last year, but they aren't as improved as the Raiders. They selected the best safety in the draft, Eric Berry. This will most certainly improve their ...
Oakland A's manager Bob Geren nearly blew another game by having Tyson Ross come into the ballgame to face Delmon Young of the Minnesota Twins. With Joe Mauer on base via a free pass, in came Ross to face the right-handed hitting Young.  Ross immediately fell behind 2-0 to the free-swinging Young. The next pitch that Ross threw was the last one he would for the game, he gave up a two-run home run that went out of the park in a hurry.  There's really one simple solution to help Ross though because during the season he has been used as a ...
With such names like Kenny Stabler, Jim Plunkett, Marcus Allen, Dave Casper, etc (I could go on all day). It's easy to overlook the guys that were not as high profile as others. I wanted to highlight a guy that was just as important to the Raiders success from the mid 70's to the mid 80's. Center, Dave Dalby. Before you Google his name, I was curious if many of you had ever heard of him before now? To be honest, I'd never heard of the guy until I started doing a little research. Dalby was drafted in the 4th round by the Raiders in the ...
Can the Oakland Raiders look any better in 2010? Probably not. The Raiders have done an absolutely remarkable job building up an organization that has been, well, in the dumps for the past few seasons. Yet redemption is near for the Raiders and their very loyal fans. In fact it should be noted that when it comes to loyalty, the Oakland Raider fan base exceeds all NFL teams. This article is geared towards featured running backs in 2010—Michael Bush and Darren McFadden. This duo of powerful running backs is set to dominate the AFC west and possibly the NFL. How so? Lets look at Michael ...
The Oakland Raiders have probably had as good an off-season as any team in the league, and went some way to addressing their "line of scrimmage issues," as described by coach Tom Cable. Though one position that remains a problem is defensive tackle. The release of Gerard Warren was something that we knew would happen, and though many thought that the selection of Lamarr Houston in the second round of this year's draft would help address this issue, we were later told he would be playing at defensive end. With Richard Seymour still listed at end, and Matt Shaugnessy playing well at ...
There are so many angles to look at when you study the Oakland Raiders? Let's talk about the heavyweights. Who are they? The objective in this article is to get to know more about the Oakland Raiders, from every vantage point. First, the current roster has 79 players. Since there are 11 men who start, you could say that there are seven teams within the roster. Just divide 11 into 79 and you get about seven teams, with 11 men on each of them. The importance of a roster with 79 men might be that if someone gets injured, there will be a good ...
Much of the media has seemingly determined that the Denver Broncos will do worse in 2010 than 2009.   The primary reason for this seems to be that most "experts" believe that the Brandon Marshall trade will result in a substantial drop in offensive production. Additionally, the loss of Mike Nolan as a coach makes many feel their defense will be less effective.  Finally, it seems people believe that by drafting Tim Tebow, they somehow shot themselves in the foot.   However, a closer look at what is happening in Dove Valley shows that the Broncos have most likely improved a little since last ...
Michael Huff has been largely criticized for his play since arriving in Oakland in 2006. Many have looked at his stat sheet and have even called him a bust as a number seven pick. I don't see it that way. If you want to go from a standpoint of statistical production vs. place in the draft then you can say so. However, he is a good football player and has tried his best to do what has been asked of him thus far in his career. What was asked of him is not his fault. He has played strong safety for the better part of his career and ...
This year the Raiders added key pieces to the offense. However, there are still players who we know have talent that haven't gotten the opportunity to show it. Here are five of these players.Begin Slideshow
