So, Al Davis wants to take money from JaMarcus Russell. Here's how their meeting went down.   Al Davis: You know why we called you here, JaMarcus. We—I feel that you should pay us back for being the most pathetic excuse for a quarterback. JaMarcus Russell: A simple, "Could you pay us back would've been nice, you know." But, why should I pay you guys back? It's not my fault you drafted me because I could throw 80 yards on my knee. Al Davis: Yes, but you fell asleep during meetings. JaMarcus Russell: You do the same exact thing. Al Davis: I'm 127 years old. You ...
There have been 18 perfect games since 1900. Interestingly enough, 11 of those 18 have come since 1981. Perfect games used to be rare. What we have seen this year is unprecedented. It is unlikely that the perfect and near-perfect games will continue. It is possible that we won't see another one for 20-30 years. Way back in May of 2002, Mike Cameron and Shawn Green each hit four home runs in a game. In 2003, Carlos Delgado also accomplished this. Many fans thought that we would see this more and more. However, no one has hit four homers in a ...
I won't lie. It irritates me greatly to hear the media attempt to condense a 50-year Raider legacy of dominance into seven miserable years. America's neglect for history has been a pervasively destructive element, which has poisoned all levels of society. In that regard, I can relate to the Oakland Raiders.  However this isn't about me. It's about the 2010 Oakland Raiders. I often hear people mirror uneducated sports network rhetoric on how the Raiders may improve their win total from the previous year by about 1-2 victories. I have to then ask myself, "Based on what?" In three consecutive years (by three ...
This article profiles my top QBs in the NFL today for raw arm strength. Note, this article has nothing to do with the success of the QB or his accuracy, but merely arm strength. Please comment on your top 5!Begin Slideshow
Who's the best cornerback in the NFL? Some fans think New York Jets star Darrelle Revis, while others say it's Oakland Raiders veteran Nnamdi Asomugha. It is an argument that simply cannot be won. The Revis side will throw out his 64 career pass deflections, and how quarterbacks completed just 36.9 percent of their passes towards Revis last season. Asomugha supporters will point out that only 28 passes came his way all of last season, so one can contend that he did his job better since no one is throwing at him. So, is there a ...
The Oakland Raiders' offensive line problems aren't a big secret. However, it seems as if the Raiders significantly upgraded it, as they added key players like Bruce Campbell and Jared Veldheer in the draft. Still, neither of those players are ready to start immdeiately, and Bruce Campbell is being converted to Right Guard. This still leaves the tackle position in doubt: Mario Henderson is average and Langston Walker and Khalif Barnes haven't proven they can be consistent. This brings in the question of whether or not to bring in free agent Pro Bowl Left Tackle Flozell Adams. Here is why and why not the ...
As the A’s round out their first successful road trip this season with a 6-4 record, their winning percentage sits at .527 (29-26). This is good enough for a half game out of first place in the AL West.  That corresponds to a final record of 85-77, which may be enough to take the division.  This is not a bad season, overall; however, a lot can be done to raise this percentage and give the A’s a legitimate chance at a late playoff appearance, and possible success. Although the pitching is performing admirably, the A's desperately need to add ...

Remember the days that Raider defenses were intimidating and inflicted pain on opposing offenses? You could tell in their body language that last thing an offense wanted on a given Sunday was to be on the field with the Raider's defense. With a few personnel moves this offseason, the Raiders now have the parts necessary to get that defense back on track after being ranked among the leagues worst units the last few years. Defensive coordinator John Marshall appears to have earned the trust of Al Davis and should be able to use his blitzes and multiple fronts. Marshall is a 4-3 hybrid coordinator with use of ...
Are there movie buffs who enjoy widescreen movies in technicolor? We do at our house. Do you remember the scenes of Samson being taken into bondage or of other heroes who are finally captured, at least, for a little while? This makes some of us think of the Oakland Raiders, our Samsons. Even the scene with Godzilla being captured breaks the hearts of the viewers of these old movies. Well, it is even more heartbreaking to imagine the Oakland Raiders being caught in a net of losses, bounded down by a few points with what we perceive to be senseless losses over the ...
