The fruit of the labor of the Oakland Raiders would be to win the championship in the AFC, and to win another Super Bowl. Sometimes it is helpful to connect the behaviors in one area to those of another. Tennis Mantis, a 19-year-old college student, who listens to the little gems of wisdom that just might inspire the Oakland Raiders, has something to say. Let's just say that out of the mouths of babes can come great wisdom and simplicity. As I demonstrate the power of preparation and of doing your homework, sometimes college students get the message and present me with a ...
The Raiders have had an awesome offseason and are now very much a different team than they were last year. With that said, Raider fans are very excited looking into the upcoming season. Here are my 10 predictions for the Raiders in 2010. Last year I made similar predictions and was correct on five out of 10.Begin Slideshow
In the '80s, we saw Rigginomics (John Riggins) in Washington with the Redskins. From the late '90s til the turn of the century, we saw the Marshall Plan (Marshall Faulk). That was in Indianapolis and St. Louis respectively. Justin Fargas is now gone. Raider Nation has yet to see Darren McFadden make it through 16 games. Does this mean that the Bush Administration is soon to take over Raider Nation? He's way ahead in the popular vote. It is now up to the Electoral College of Al Davis, Tom Cable, and Running Backs Coach Kelly Skipper. I'm sure the campaigning done by both McFadden and Bush will ...
While the Oakland Raiders improved greatly this offseason, they still have a few spots that could be filled or upgraded. Here are five free agents still left on the market that I think could really improve the squad.Begin Slideshow
Overcoming great odds in rugby certainly can be similar to overcoming the odds against the Oakland Raiders. Clint Eastwood's 2009 movie, Invictus, is centered around the achievements of Nelson Mandela, the man who survived about 27 years of imprisonment and stepped up to become the President of South Africa. Inspiration is the theme of the movie. Inspiration is also the theme of most articles about the potential of the Raiders in 2010. If some of us had a chance to speak to the Raiders, we would probably sit them down, set up a DVD player, and show them Invictus. They would see the ...
Since the release of JaMarcus Russell, the Oakland Raider under the most pressure to perform is Darren McFadden. McFadden was drafted fourth overall in the 2008 draft. Due to injury, a poor offensive line, and being on a team in turmoil, he has yet to live up to his high draft status. 2010 brings McFadden his best opportunity to live up to those expectations. The coaching staff has been upgraded by hiring a real offensive coordinator, the offensive line has added young talent and depth, and the defense is greatly improved and should provide McFadden and the offense more opportunities. The AFC West will be a very intriguing division this season. Any other year the Chargers would dominate, the Broncos would finish mediocre, the Raiders would show signs of hope yet be considerably bad, and the Chiefs would be laughable. 2010, however, is different. There is a huge power shift in the west. The Raiders and Chiefs, two teams who have been at the bottom the past few years, have made progress this off-season. The Broncos have had a very strange off-season. Josh McDaniels has seemingly torn that franchise apart, trading away the best offensive player in Brandon Marshall and making questionable picks in the ...
With the offseason looking as slow as ever, boredom encouraged me to scour the rumor mills and Raider forum pages in search of rumors. Here's a look at 10 Raider rumors I've found for this offseason. Are any of them true? Probably not, but who knows. Like they say, where there's smoke, there's fire. While reading these remember, they are only rumors.Begin Slideshow
Many in Raider Nation are ready to call Darren McFadden a "bust." They say,"Michael Bush is way better." or "We need to trade McFadden."  Many of those same people thought McFadden was the Raider's Messiah after a week two performance against the Chiefs in 2008. And just like then, they are now rushing to judgement. They went as far as comparing McFadden to Adrian Peterson after one game. The first thing to be said about that is that Peterson went to a better team with one of the best offensive lines in football. This is when many in Raider Nation pull out Michael Bush. They say, "Michael Bush had a better ...
There are high hopes for the Oakland Raiders for the upcoming 2010 season.  There are several reasons for this new found hope.  Things like a new QB, new offensive coordinator, improving receivers and a new look defense.  Which brings me to my question.  Who is the most important member of the defense? The defense is vital to the Raiders return to respectability.  You know what they say, "defense wins championships."  With that in mind, let's take a look at the biggest pieces of the Raiders defense. Richard Seymour:  Now that he has signed his franchise tag, Seymour will be back in silver and black.  Coming off ...
