Dream on, that's what we do. The question: When will the Oakland Raiders win a Super Bowl again? Soon.  And very soon, some believe. A little research on the patterns of showing up in a Super Bowl game will be presented. Here are a few observations: 1. The Oakland Raiders have been in a Super Bowl five times, winning a total of three times. The most recent win was in 1983, about 27 years ago. 2. The Oakland Raiders had a four year interval between the first Super Bowl victory and the second one, from 1976 to 1980. Then, it took three years to appear ...
Every day I seem to wake up and hear something that could have a positive effect for the Raiders season in 2010. I was already optimistic about the Raiders getting off to a good start this year for many reasons: The schedule is kind, and may get even more kind if there is a Chris Johnson holdout or Vince Young suspension come week one in Nashville. With the Rams, Cardinals and Texans on tap for the next three games, you have a rookie QB, no Kurt Warner, Karlos Dansby or Anquan Boldin, and a suspended Brian Cushing. 4-0 seems very possible! Now for the ...
Last year the Raiders return game was pretty much dead. But it would seem as though the Raiders are looking to change that in an attempt to win the field position battle next year. Here's a look at the players who will be competing for the opportunity to return kicks and punts for the Oakland Raiders in 2010.Begin Slideshow
“We will be doing something different this year.”   So said coach Tom Cable of the Oakland Raiders Defense in 2010. But at the end of Organized Team Activities (OTAs), we are still no clearer on precisely what will be different.   On the face of it, the Raiders are still a 4-3 defense, albeit one lacking size amongst interior lineman and boasting a plethora of linebackers.   O ne intriguing possibility is for the Raiders to dust off a hybrid version of the “46 Defense” made famous by the Chicago Bears in the 1980s under Buddy Ryan.   Oakland has players who are blessed ...
Nnamdi Asomugha is finally getting what he deserves. While Derelle Revis is faking injuries to get more money, Asomugha looks forward to it. Is it the $15 million plus he's scheduled to make this season I'm talking about? No! Asomugha does deserve to be the highest paid corner in the game. However, it's the pieces that Raiders have put  around him that he deserves the most. The Raiders addressed their need for a better offensive line in the draft. Third rounder Jared Veldheer and fourth rounder Bruce Campell will at least provide much-needed depth right away.  The biggest move for the offense is the trade for Jason Campbell. Campbell is a big ...
While the Oakland Raiders had a spectacular 2010 off-season, there are still a couple weaknesses here and there. The biggest weakness, of course, is the o-line. The Raiders definitely need to provide protection for newly acquired quarterback Jason Campbell. Enter Logan Mankins. Mankins is an offensive guard for the New England Patriots. He's also one of the many restricted free agents who are frustrated and want to be traded. Mankins even denied a give year, $35 million contract. However, that's not a red flag. Most report that this is out of character for the guard and that he's disgruntled because of the uncertainty about a new ...

No, I am not picking on just the Oakland Raiders! This is a series that I am doing for all 32 of the NFL teams, Why Your Team Won't Win The Super Bowl . (click the link to see the other teams.) For years, people (myself included) have talked about the Oakland Raiders as a team that is not going to improve until Al Davis steps down as the decision maker. I have to say though, the moves that the Oakland Raiders have made this off season should give the Raiders and their fans a glimmer of hope. The biggest mistake that the Raiders have ever made, ...
Whether you hate or love the Raiders it's hard to argue that this offseason hasn't been a very positive one. The Raiders perhaps had one of the best draft weekends in the NFL, and the positive moves have continued through June. Let's take a look at the following aspects of the team and see how they have done prior to camp.   Coaching: B I'll be the first to admit that I was not sold on Tom Cable and wasn't sure how he kept his job. But the more I hear about him the more I like him. Cable had too many duties last ...
You probably heard about the lightning that struck Touchdown Jesus in Ohio. The statue was a symbol of hope for travelers, and it burned down. However, it was not the Touchdown Jesus at Notre Dame, where Tim Brown played football, that burned down. It was the symbol of hope in Monroe, Ohio. All I could think of is that we certainly don't need to lose hope, nor do we need any symbols of hope to burn down. While driving to Chicago from Ohio in 2009, my family and I visited the campus of Notre Dame, the school that produced Tim Brown. He is a ...
