When football fans think of the of the number 81, Terrell Owens and Randy Moss come to mind. They are both big, fast, playmaking receivers. I believe there is a new one coming into the picture in 2010. Oakland Raider Chaz Scillens is that guy. Schillens is seventh round steal that has the same attributes as the other two. At 6'4" 225 pounds, Schilens has sub-4.4 40 speed. He is a polished route runner. I would even go as far as to say that Schilens has more reliable hands than Owens at this point. If he's so good, why hasn't everyone heard of him? Why isn't he among ...
Coming from a fan perspective, there is nothing more exciting in the NFL than a good old teammate feud. In the past years, we've seen just about everything imaginable. If it isn't Terrell Owens causing havoc for one team or another, it is Darnell Dockett engaging in an online war with Kerry Rhodes. Here's a look at the 15 Biggest Feuds in NFL History, along with a little reminder for those fans that may have missed out on a few. Is your favorite player, team or coach on the list? It's time to find out.Begin Slideshow
The Madden ratings have just come out, and I'm sure there are plenty of fans out there who felt their teams, or certain players, should have gotten more love in the ratings. Let's take a look at 10 players on the Oakland Raiders who should have received higher rankings.Begin Slideshow
The Oakland A's currently sit seven and a half games out of first place in the American League West. Last year the A's signed Jason Giambi to a one year contract, hoping he could spell some time at first base and provide power from the designated hitter position.  Giambi didn't work out very well at all for the A's and he was actually designated for assignment, only to be picked up by the Colorado Rockies last year. The question now is could this be the second year in a row that a former Athletic is brought in?  Miguel Tejada would provide a ...
Throughout the offseason there have been many articles and rumors about the Raiders shuffling up the defense with a 3-4 and hybrid schemes, but there could also be some new looks on the offense as well. The Raiders have a stockpile of speed at the wide receiver position. With Darrius Heyward-Bey, Louis Murphy, Chaz Schilens, and Johnie Le Higgins, the Raiders have four receivers who could give them a dangerous aerial attack. Let's look at the men who would be responsible for the spread to work.   Darrius Heyward-Bey:   After a lousy rookie year (nine catches, 124 yards, one TD), it is being ...
Since Al Davis took over the Oakland Raiders, there have been some great players that have donned the silver and black. Raider fans have often shown their allegiance to their favorite players by wearing their number. However, they often find themselves wearing the number of a lesser player with that same number years later. Why doesn't Davis retire numbers like most sports franchises? It could be that he likes to say, "Son, I think highly enough of you to give you so-and-so's number, now honor it." It could also be that by taking the sentimentality out of the number, he's attempting ...
Each and every year for the past seven years, the Oakland Raiders have been horrid in virtually every category (with the exception of the number three overall defense in 2006). It's widely known that Raider Nation has members that are the most passionate fans in the NFL. So, it's only natural that each off-season for the past seven years Raider fans have had a glimmer of hope—something that kept them going. Every year is the same: "The Raiders will be the biggest surprise in the NFL!" We exclaim. JaMarcus is a savior, Kiffin is the next Madden. We'd said it all. However, Oakland always ...
The Oakland Raiders have been the doormat for the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos the last few years, but a shocking realignment of the AFC West in 2010 may be on the horizon. Gone is the Oakland Raiders' failed NFL first-round draft pick , JaMarcus Russell and his "lean ." Now on the scene is an eager, experienced quarterback in Jason Campbell . Although head coach Tom Cable has stated it is a four-way competition for the starting quarterback job ...
If the Oakland Raiders play football for a cause that is greater than themselves, might that help revive the economy of the city of Oakland? Today, the news media carried a story of the layoffs of policemen in Oakland, California. This news report inspired the question of the relationship between a winning team in a city and the economy of that city. Recently, some folks believe that the move of LeBron James away from Cleveland will hurt the economy of Cleveland. Well, if one basketball player's move can shake the economy of a city one way or another, then certainly it is possible ...
It is unanimous that the Oakland Raiders may have had their best offseason in quite some time. From free agency, trade acquisitions, and the NFL draft, the Raiders have done their best to set themselves up for success in 2010 and beyond. We know about the big names that should help the team, but there are some intriguing players, that if successful, should give the Raiders an added boost in order to reach the goal that the Raiders ultimately want: the playoffs. Players such as Jason Campbell, Louis Murphy, Darren McFadden, Michael Bush, Rolando McClain, Namdii Asomugha, Zach Miller, and even Chaz ...
