Tom Cable knew that as the Head Coach of the Oakland Raiders, he would have to change the overall attitude of a under achieving football team. Cable did wonders in his first two years as an offensive line coach, but now it was time to make that motivating, infectious attitude spread out to the overall football team. This would not be an easy task. Luckily, Cable has gotten the teams veterans to rally behind him. For a coach to fully grab hold of his football team, he must also make his mark through the NFL Draft. When Cable took over in the middle ...
If it's humor you want, then become an NFL fan—the league has plenty of it. If it isn't Terrell Owens still struggling to find a contract, it's young JaMarcus Russell making mistake after mistake as he further digs himself a deeper hole to climb out of. Okay, so not everyone finds these situations funny, but surely each and every one of us has encountered that unsympathetic fan who chuckles a little in regards to Russell's latest arrest, right? I know I have.  Therefore, it got me to thinking—why do people find Russell such a funny character in modern day football? I mean, sure, he has ...
The Oakland Raiders drafted Bruce Campbell and shortly after Tom Cable stated that he was being moved to Offensive Guard to receive more reps in practice. Are you buying this? Let’s look at Mr. Campbell through the eyes of the Raider Franchise.   Combine Results: Size:                  6’6”, 314lbs, 36 ¼” Arm Reach Speed:               4.85 40 yard dash*, 7.58 3-cone drill, 4.69 20 yard shuttle Strength:            34 rep bench press   *Best for an Offensive Lineman   Strengths: Campbell possesses a rare combination of size and athleticism for an offensive lineman. He uses the hand punch effectively. Excels in pass protection and can handle speed rushers ...
The past few seasons have been a string of lackluster performances for the Oakland Raiders. Each year starts with little to hope for, and ends with a bottom of the barrel record. So, what will this year bring? Will they finally have a winning season and make a playoff push, or will the following games just act as a prelude to another Top Ten draft pick for the lowly Raiders? Ever since their embarrassing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers way back in 2003, things have progressively gotten worse for Oakland. They seemed to be getting worse each year, until the sense of pride that ...
As the All-Star Game approaches, let's take an updated look at Ben Sheets' season. Last night, Sheets had his longest outing of the season, going 7.1 innings in a tough 3-1 loss against the mighty Yankees. This was his second-best outing of the year and his best one in a month, as he faced a very deep lineup. The game displayed the ups and downs of his season. Sheets pitched a great game, except the home run that he gave up to Mark Teixeira, but still lost. Through the first quarter of the season, I gave Sheets a "C-" grade. ...
Recently, JaMarcus Russell was arrested and released on $2,500 bail for possession of a banned substance, codeine syrup, at his home in Mobile, Alabama.  At first, this story interested me.  But after seeing the story in every sports media outlet for the last 48 hours, I no longer care about our (Raider Nation's) former QB. JaMarcus Russell is no longer a Raider and I no longer care about him.  I'm still mad as hell that he made $39 million in three seasons. That amount of money is more than I will ever know in my life and I would like to think ...
This is a slideshow featuring a Raider starting lineup for each decade that has been completed. I also included 12th men on offense and defense for each decade. It is mainly composed of Pro Bowlers, All-Pros, members of championship squads, and fan favorites. Note: If players had success in two different decades, they are eligible for both rosters as long as they outshined the other players of that decade. I tried to get everybody on a roster that I felt deserved it one way or another.Begin Slideshow
Dear JaMarcus, I know you're really busy so I will keep it brief. Even though you have been through a lot, try to look on the bright side. You've got millions of dollars, you will be famous until "the next Ryan....errr JaMarcus Russell" comes along, and at least your team didn't have a shot at Peyton Manning when they drafted you. A word of advice. Whatever you do, don't try to drown your post-NFL blues in a wash of narcotics....oh wait....never mind. Scratch that. Whatever you do don't get caught stealing. In closing, thank you....thank you very, very, very, very, very, very, ...
JaMarcus Russell, recently released by the Oakland Raiders after being selected No. 1 overall out of Louisiana State, has just made a bad offseason even worse after being arrested for possession of a controlled substance. That substance is supposedly liquid codeine, or "Purple Drank," which is a mixture of the codeine, promethazyne, Sprite, and Jolly Ranchers. Green Bay Packers DT Johnny Jolly is also facing charges on the same offense. ESPN's Outside the Lines chronicles the new trend here: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5332554 According to Daniela Werner of the Mobile Press- Register (Ala.), The Mobile County Sheriff's Office arrested Russell during the middle of an ...
They say sometimes letting go is the best thing to do. On May 7th, 2010 the Raiders let go to the all time worst NFL No. 1 overall pick in JaMarcus Russell. Since drafting Russell in 2007, the Raiders have nothing but set themselves up for failure. Things looked even worse when head coach Tom Cable was accused of punching and breaking the jaw of assistant coach Randy Hanson during 2009 training camp. In a move that could be labeled as a blessing disguise, on November 19th Tom Cable had seen enough. He made the right move and benched JaMarcus Russell and named Bruce ...
