I recently read an article that dubs the top player in the history of every team in the NFL. Overall, I thought that article had strong points, but it compelled me to write my list, rather than just comment on one.
I don't look purely at total numbers, because total numbers can be misleading. Moreover, some statistics did not exist at certain times, or are affected by the total numbers of games per season, and so, looking purely at stats can be misleading.
For instance, the sack was not a stat until 1982, and so, a player like defensive ...
It was pretty well known around here last season that I was not a fan of A's righthander Trevor Cahill.
That wasn't so much because I didn't think the former top prospect had great potential. It was more due to the fact that Cahill wasn't performing well and had completely ditched his best pitch, a big curveball.
Cahill throws five pitches: a four-seamer in the low-90's, a two-seamer around 90 with unbelievable movement, a low-80's changeup with excellent movement, the big curve, and a slider.
Last season, he essentially became a two-pitch pitcher, using the two-seam fastball and the changeup.
It didn't work.
Cahill had ...
If you ask any Raiders fan about their team’s chances in 2010, they will give you a surprisingly optimistic answer. The reason for this is the addition of Jason Campbell.
The Raiders essentially gave up nothing to get him from Washington, and he immediately became their starter.
But, Jason Campbell is not regarded as one of the better QB's in the league, so why are they expecting him to take one of the worst teams in the NFL as far as a playoff berth?
The answer is this: he is an immeasurable improvement over one of the worst QB's I have ever seen in ...
Tom Cable is the man who single handedly, reformed the Oakland Raiders by getting owner Al Davis to believe in a new system. A system that would bring the Raiders back into playoff contenders. A system that the players believed in. Tom Cable is a man with a the golden opportunity of going into the history books a winner.
Tom Cable has brought a new heartbeat into the Raidernation. In fact, when he was first put in charge with the release of Lane Kiffin there were many who assumed he would finish out the season and then fade into the Raiders ...
Far too long have we all been relegated to sub-par Raider Football.
Do you feel that? It is the wind that is picking up by the black clouds with silver linings circling Oakland, ushering a new dawn to the faithful.
In these turbulent times a glimpse of darkness once more begins to engulf the NFL with signs of consuming all hope for teams around the league, also known as the return of "The Black Hole!"Begin Slideshow
I have heard rumblings to the contrary, but the Raiders are right where they should be with Jason Campbell. Many have said, "Jason Campbell isn't a great quarterback."
Last year, Campbell threw for 3,618 yards with 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He completed 64.5 percent of his passes and posted a quarterback rating of 86.4.
That doesn't put him in the elite group of quarterbacks. However, the Raiders would have been much better last year with Campbell's numbers at the quarterback position.
As a team, the Raiders threw for 2,557 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions. You do the math on how much better the Raiders would have been on offense.
Campbell is also a young ...
Yes, I know that's not a real Madden cover. But who knows, maybe that's what it will look like in the near future?
The full player rankings for the Oakland Raiders have been released.
So far, player ratings have only been released for the AFC East and West.
Like always, it would seem that the Raiders got shafted in the overall rating department. But that won't stop Madden fans from using the Raiders to wreak havoc online.
If Al Davis knows how to do one thing, it's how to build a formidable Madden team. The Raiders have some of the fastest, most dangerous ...
The Oakland Athletics have a few players that are deserving of an All-Star invitation, including Kurt Suzuki, Ryan Sweeney, and Andrew Bailey.
Despite how great all of these players are playing right now, Trevor Cahill is the most deserving of any.
The 22-year-old right-hander is from the Southern California area and should be returning there to represent the A's in Angel Stadium. Cahill is 7-2 on the year with an impressive 2.88 ERA.
Of his 12 starts, 10 have been "quality starts," and the team has won nine of the games started by Cahill.
Trevor Cahill has won his last six decisions, which is ...
Enough is enough. How dare Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports say that the Oakland Raiders offensive line is the worst in the NFL. Has he looked at all of the videos and all of the data? I don't think so.
Cole decided on ranks yet his methodology for assigning a number to the O-line for the Raiders and other teams is not shown. Words, words, words, and few, if any, numbers which allow for comparisons and quantitative analysis.
When a writer compiles a lot of verbage without some references to the measures that are so meticulously recorded in the NFL, it makes many ...
Alright, I did my top 15 worst first round picks in Raider History, now here are my top 15 best first round picks in Raider History.
15. (tie) 2004 Robert Gallery, OL Iowa: He was thought of as a can't-miss pick until he was drafted into a bad coaching scheme. Once Tom Cable first came aboard as his OL coach, he has anchored himself as the anchor of the OL at LG. No Pro Bowls yet, but he still has a long career ahead of him.
1995 Napolean Kaufman, RB Washington: His career was a short six years, but they were good. ...
