Many NFL enthusiasts downplay the importance of pre-season football. However, I disagree on certain levels.Fundamentals are the building blocks, blue-prints, and the bones of an NFL team. For instance, on the offensive side of the ball, if a team does not score in pre-season, it's probably because most teams don't "let all the tricks out of the bag."Fundamentals, technique, and execution are the purposes, and what most coaches evaluate in training camp and pre-season.The reason for film study, at a grassroots level, is to examine technique and fundamentals. Based on my observation, the following are things that the Raiders did well on ...
The anticipation was mounting.
The Raiders fans have read about all this improvement of the offense. We've heard about Darrius Heyward-Bey.
Al Davis told us Jason Campbell was the next Jim Plunkett.
The concern about the Raiders was the offensive line.
Apparently it was opposite day, because nothing was what we expected.
DHB got only one target, and that was on the first play of the game.
I actually opened my eyes to see what Jason Cole was talking about. While Cole did have an agenda when he evaluated, he was correct in his evaluation.
Darrius ran a curl route, and Terrence Newman read it like he ...
Not trying to be cheesy and get reads...I had a REALLY difficult time finding a working link, so wanted to help out my Nation!

However, some people have had doubts about Campbell since his days in Washington. Here are six things that will make Campbell a yearly pro-bowler and household name while with the Raiders.Begin Slideshow

I am all excited about the 2010 season. That excitement has spilled over into the lives of those who encounter me and my little pep talks.
One gifted artist came up to me to share her inspiration to paint the hands of an Oakland Raiders wide receiver. I was so touched.
In fact, I just wish that our current wide receivers have those gifted hands and fierce determination of some of the former ones.
The artist said she needed more time to complete the painting, to be done in oil, I believe. But I was so impressed with the work-in-progress, I took a few pictures and ...
Let's be honest for a minute: the first preseason game will not reflect any type of success for a team or a player. The Raiders beat the Cowboys last year 31-10 and Jamarcus Russell's completion percentage was almost 70 percent.
Not exactly how the Raiders performed during the season.
This game won't show us if Jason Campbell is the real deal, and it won't show us if Darrius Heyward-Bey is ready for the Hall of Fame.
This game will show us a lot of things, but it won't show us if the Raiders will make the playoffs in 2010.
Let's take a look at five ...
Jason Henry, WE WON!!!!!
Jason Henry of MVN had his say about tonight's upcoming game. I say, however, that the Oakland Raiders will attack the Dallas Cowboys. I challenge the tone of the last sentence in Henry's article. He wrote:
"The Raiders may not scare any team on their schedule, but they have the tools in place to improve from last year's five-win season."
That comment alone is enough for some of us in the Raider Nation to say, "Scare the hell out of Dallas, put them on notice. The Oakland Raiders are on the rise and they are to be feared."
Henry can put his perceptions ...
Some things never change. Following optimistic statements about Jason Campbell and the Oakland Raiders by Al Davis in a recent interview on Sirius Radio,
The most important lesson that I learned in grammar school besides reading was that “Mathematics is the absolute science—numbers don’t lie, one plus one will always equal two."
But as an anti-authoritarian Leo child, I challenged the absoluteness of one plus one always equaling two.
My third grade theory was: if you add one color yellow, plus another color blue, combined they equal one color that is green. So sometimes one plus one equals one.
My theory marveled the majority of the class, except my teacher who defended the absoluteness of her absolute theory in the same manner, I assume, that most ...
