There is a lot of optimism about the Oakland Raiders for the 2010 season. The Raiders and many members of the Raider Nation believe this is the year they return. They have their eyes set on a playoff run and possibly the AFC West title. The media, who like to make the Raiders the butt of all the jokes, are actually saying good things about them. Most of them think the Raiders at the very least will end their streak of losing 11 games. There are also many doubters out there who think the Raiders haven't done enough to make ...
We are halfway through the preseason and the Oakland Raiders look to have one of their best drafts in a long time. My question now is "How many will actually be starters?" At first, I only figured two for sure and possibly three, but now it looks like there could be more. Let's take a brief look at our rookie class for 2010.
No. 1- MLB Rolando McClain: Rolando McClain was one of 5 "Can't Miss Picks" on the Raider Draft Board and was the only one available when the Raiders went on the clock, so they grabbed him.
He was penciled in as a ...
The preseason version of the "Battle of the Bay" took place in Oakland on Saturday as the Oakland Raiders played host to their rivals from across the bay, the San Francisco 49ers.It was an exciting game filled with spectacular plays and big hits. The final score wasn't what Raider fans had hoped for, but it wasn't all bad. Fans got their first look as several key players that made their first appearance of the 2010 season. There was a scary moment for Raider fans as Jason Campbell went down hard and was forced to leave the game. The injury to his ...
On Saturday evening, the Oakland Raiders hosted the Bay Area rival San Francisco 49ers. The Raiders lost the game 28-24 but there were several players that surprisingly stepped their game up to try and take a role with the Raiders.
The Raiders just may have something if these players continue what they're doing to go with the Raider's known players.

The Oakland Raiders have been the laughingstock of the NFL for far too long. While many other teams continue the struggle to find their way back to the light of playoff berths and winning seasons, the Raider nation has replaced that burned out light bulb with one that glows a pirate silhouette. While plenty of other NFL teams have done worse than Oakland over the years, no other team has been ridiculed or criticized as much as they have. However the era of Raider-hatin' is over. And the time for the black hole has begun. Here are five reasons why.Begin Slideshow
If you only look at the win-loss record for 2009, you may think that the Oakland Raiders may be equally matched in ability when compared to the Seattle Seahawks.
Both teams had a 5-11 win-loss record in 2009. Many of us know that those numbers mean very little since there are personnel changes in both teams.
Focusing on the Oakland Raiders and the fact that they have a pretty good depth chart for quarterbacks, the Raiders will be ready to go on Sept. 2.
Jason Campbell's injury is a little setback but most believe he will be in good shape for the Sept. 2 ...
While Saturday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers was Darren McFadden’s first game of the preseason, it still appears he might not make it as an NFL running back. He gained only nine yards in seven attempts and again seemed to be easily stopped either at or behind the line of scrimmage.
While a valid argument can be made that part of McFadden’s problem gaining yards on the ground might be the offensive line of the Oakland Raiders, he just doesn’t seem to be progressing as he should be. Being a successful running back in college doesn’t always mean success in ...
The Raiders had an up-and-down game vs. the 49ers. Here are a few observations:
Offense
1) Jared Veldheer looked decent for his first start
He was much better in pass blocking, but got out leveraged at times by Ricky Jean-Francois.
To be honest, he was probably better than Samson Satele, who couldn't pass or run block effectively.
Veldheer does need more experience. The best mike linebacker in the league, Patrick Willis, got through the A gap at least two times unblocked.
2) Darrius Heyward-Bey looked good
Jackson made a point to get it to DHB early.
I was impressed by DHB's last catch. It came right after a drop, ...
As good as the Raiders have been collecting and developing talent this off season, there are still some areas of concern, and a number of starters are not secure in their roles. This has not only shown during camp, but was equally clear during the three pre-season games that we have seen so far.But Oakland has a number of players fighting for those positions, and competition is always a good thing. So here goes.Begin Slideshow
First off I want to take the opportunity to say I told you so. Terrell Owens still has game, and made Antonio Bryant an easy cut for the Bengals. Perhaps it was his injury or perhaps it was the fact that Batman and Robin don't need a third wheel, but Bryant is now looking for a job. Luckily for him there are plenty of teams out there that are in need of a veteran wide receiver. Let's take a look at five teams that could use the Bryant on their team.Begin Slideshow
