Trevor Cahill has become the ace of the Oakland A's staff. Brett Anderson had the role at the beginning of the year, but because of injuries, Anderson has conceded the role.  Today, Cahill improved his record to 12-4 today, his ERA is now at 2.56, WHIP .98, and has struck out 76 while walking 41. At 22 years of age, Cahill has blossomed.  When the season started, it didn't look like Cahill was going to have a shot in the rotation. He started the year off rough against Toronto, but has been tremendous since. So much so Cahill is about to tie ...
A lot of folks enjoy looking at pictures or graphs. The old saying is that a picture is worth a thousand words. I believe in that old saying, so I transform numbers into graphs so that the reader can see the ups and downs, the periods in which one team dominates another, the points where their records are the same, and so on. The article photo contains a graph of the wins of the Oakland Raiders and the Chicago Bears, from 1978 to 2009. In 1978 the NFL started having 16 game seasons so that is why 1978 was selected as a ...
With the start of the NFL preseason days away, this is a preview into what to expect from these two teams. Many people say that preseason doesn't mean much, however championship caliber teams refute that claim, arguing the preseason sets the stage for what formations and player rotations work best. In addition, the preseason gives opportunities to young players to show off abilities that are often overlooked during training camp. Many players are fueled in game situations by adreneline that lays dorment during practice.Begin Slideshow
The 2010-11 Oakland Raiders are looking to improve on a disastrous 2009-10 campaign. For this to happen, the Raiders need improvements from every position on their team. After a great draft and some stellar off-season acquisitions, the Raiders are poised to not only improve, but compete for the AFC Title. Below is a ranking and analysis. Ranking System 1= Push-overs 2= Bottom of the barrel   3= Decent 4= Pro-bowl potential 5- Dominate against all competition   1: Running back: 3.5/ 5 Michael Bush averaged 4.8 yards a carry last year in his limited role in the Raiders backfield. Look for Bush to be more of a feature back this ...
Foreword Oakland Raiders, please respond to this "trigger," an article intended to catapult you to a winning attitude.   Article (Trigger) The experiences I have had in urban education programs remind me of those participants who were easily "triggered" to act out certain behaviors. The word is used in an interesting way. Here is the definition: [noun] an act that sets in motion some course of eventsSynonyms: induction, initiation [verb] put in motion or move to act; "trigger a reaction"; "actuate the circuits"Synonyms: trip, actuate, activate, set off, spark off, spark, off, touch off Now take a look at this data and tell me what ...
On Thursday, the Raiders will begin their 2010 season with a road game at Dallas. Many fans are anxious for this game. We will all see how much the Raiders have improved from January 3, 2010 when they finished the 2009 season. The fans will be able to see their favorite star players in action...for about 15 minutes. Jason Campbell, Rolando McClain and Darrius Heyward-Bey 2.0 will make their Raiders debut.  As the game approaches I have begun thinking about how much this game actually means. Is it a ball game or is it a dress rehearsal? Last year, the Raiders hosted the Cowboys to ...
The Raider backfield is less crowded after the dismissal of Justin Fargas. Hue Jackson is bringing in the power-running game to Raider Nation as well.  There is now a plethora of power and speed in the Oakland Raider backfield. Turn the page to check the progress of the tailbacks in Raider Nation.Begin Slideshow
Well, the first full week of practice is in the books, folks. The Raiders started practicing in pads, started taking the lessons to heart, and kicked off training camp in earnest in California, ready to shrug off the previous seasons' decay and dust. For the Raiders, new blood mixed with veterans, looking for a future with the Silver and Black. For others, the hope of playing for a new team gives their careers a new future and a new direction. Both groups look at this time, as all fans do, with hope and optimism...every tackle, every pass, and every barked order is another ...
The Oakland Raiders play their first preseason game on Thursday, August 12. While perhaps it's only preseason, this game should be taken seriously. It should mark the start of an Oakland Raider dynasty. Or at least, an above-average season. It's time for the Raiders to set the tone for 2010. It's time for them to show the world what they're all about. On offense, I want to see a good run game, some vertical passes, touchdowns, and Darrius Heyward-Bey showing off his new play. Defensively, I want to see what Rolando McClain and LaMarr Houston have. Are they just hype or the real deal? Also, ...
This is a collaboration with Damali Binta YAEL and Karume Kanyama. Karume is Damali's son.   They called the Oakland Raiders "cliffhangers." It's time for that type of tag to be used again so that the Oakland Raiders can get those touchdowns, even if it is the last few seconds of the fourth quarter. I will never forget the game on Dec. 6, 1970. It taught a lesson: Never, ever give up. The historic play during a game between the Oakland Raiders and the New York Jets was indeed a cliffhanger. It was in Shea Stadium in New York. Warren Wells, a deep threat and a gifted wide receiver, was near the ...
