Everything looked hopeful for the Raiders this season. Due to some superior off-season acquisitions, it seemed like at long last the Raiders were poised to regain their status as an elite franchise. The Jason Campbell trade in particular was going to make the offensive attack shine, ensuring the defense would spend less time on the field. Looking back, Sunday's game was clearly a wake-up call, but it also pointed toward ways for the Raiders to grow in order to ensure they'll come to the field next week ready to play. Although the Raiders standout defense shined during ...
After much hype and anticipation the Oakland Raiders failed to give their fans what they were looking for. It didn't take long for the haters to laugh and the fans to panic. Though it is only week one the Raiders did the same things they have been doing during their seven years of losing. Many fans are quick to say here we go again, but it is much too early to hit the panic button at this time. Let's take a look at the highs and lows heading into week two.Begin Slideshow
The Oakland Raiders offensive line looked horrific against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon in Nashville Tennessee. Darren McFadden had a total of 103 yards in the first half—the rest of the offense combined for just 33.Great for McFadden, but not the way for a team to start a season. A lot of the weaknesses Raider Nation has been screaming about for weeks reared their ugly heads. From my previous slide show:"There is no way for me to know what head coach Tom Cable, offensive ...
The "Fire on the Field", a "Field General", this is what the Oakland Raiders needed to take home a win against the Tennessee Titans. Instead, they got an applauding head coach at the 3 pts. they made to end the half, yet losing 18 pts. Nice.    Fortunately, the Oakland Raider defense played well and RB Darren McFadden proved himself a solid RB.   But in the leadership department, QB Jason Campbell played as if he was pacing. The Oakland Raiders were down by  6- 24 by the half. This was in part to a decision for field goal instead of going ...
After watching what you watched on Sunday against the Titans, ask yourself this.  Did you give Jamarcus a fair shake?  Are you now going to start blaming Jason Campbell for not seeing the field or having the ability to feel pressure etc.   Should Jason Campbell be able to get rid of the ball in minus 2 seconds too?  How about Marc Sanchez tonight and his 76 yards passing.  Is this what you call a good prospect?  How about Matt Casell 68 yard pass game tonight? Are you out of all of your fat and lazy jokes?  By not knowing football, did you run our Franchise QB ...
The Raiders have had themselves a great offseason. They have loads of talent on this roster. So why did Sunday remind me of the 2006 opener against the Chargers?   Cooper Carlisle is done! Mario Henderson can't get out of his stance! Jared Veldheer's brain has been overloaded with too many responsibilities too soon. The man has never played center before and his first game at center is his first game in the NFL. Something must be done about the offensive line! Turn the page to see how the Raiders are being held hostage by their offensive line.Begin Slideshow
Well, that was unexpected. With all the roster turnover, good vibes, and good football players brought into Oakland, not only was a decent showing expected but many felt the Raiders were good enough to win this game. Not this time they weren't.Sloppiness pervaded the offense, and concentration lapses once again victimized the defense. The 2010 Raiders unfortunately didn't look much different than the 2009 version. It's one game, and I'm not ready to panic yet. With so many new pieces it'll take time to gel, and Tennessee is a better team than I think we all gave them credit for; plus, Tennessee ...
The Oakland Raiders got crushed in an embarrassing loss to the Tennessee Titans in their season opener yesterday.Obviously, a 38-13 loss is something you never want to see, but at least we learned a lot about the Raiders. A rejuvenated Darren McFadden was the lone bright spot, as he rushed for 95 yards on 18 carries.Let's take a look at some of my notes and observations from yesterday.Begin Slideshow
The offense started with a delay of game penalty. The formation started with either No. 97 Brown or No. 78 Ford coming across the offensive line and returning to the Titans' side of the ball. No. 68 Veldheer did not snap the ball, No. 8 Campbell pulled out from under center, expecting a clear unimpeded to the quarterback call. The officials finally throw the flag and call delay of game, offense No. 8. This set the tone for how encroachment would be called all day. The first half was filled with plays of No. 75 Henderson getting beat around the edge ...
I woke up on the morning of September 12th early and excited.  10:00AM local time could not come soon enough.  A number of friends were coming over to take in the first game of the new season.  A new season in which we were all optimistic and hopeful for change.  Yes the Raiders were opening on the road against one of the best running backs and defenses in the league.  But I was convinced we were going to upset the Titans. From the opening kickoff there was clearly something wrong.  Figurs almost fumbled the return.  The heir apparent to the QB throne in ...
