In recent years, the Oakland Raiders have often been criticized for choices they have made during the NFL Draft. The concept of a first-round bust has been almost synonymous with the Raiders. Robert Gallery, Michael Huff, Darren McFadden, JaMarcus Russell, and Darrius Hey-Ward Bey have all had their names and the word bust used in the same sentence. On Sunday, two of those players, Darren McFadden and Darrius Heyward-Bey, made big steps away from the title of bust and toward success, and both did it with the help of Bruce Gradkowski. After an injury-riddled first few seasons in the NFL, ...
On Sunday the Oakland Raiders began the day believing they could end the day 1-1 and back on track. They were playing at home against an opponent who like them selves is young and still developing. After four quarters of play the Raiders did indeed pull out a victory but not in the way they believed they would.
After moving the ball fairly effectively for a half but failing to score Jason Campbell was benched in the second half for the man many fans are now calling “Bruce Almighty”.
Last year Bruce Gradkowski was called upon when the QB who will go ...
It's only week two and already the NFL is a buzz with quarterback controversy. Jimmy Clausen has supplanted Matt Moore in Carolina, Coach Andy Reid is sticking with Kevin Kolb for week three instead of Mike Vick and in Oakland there seems to be a cry for Brad Gradkowski over Jason Campbell.
I'm not a Raiders' fan, I'm a Redskins' fan, but I have no ties to Jason Campbell, I was glad to see Oakland take him off the team's hands.
However, I'd advise Coach Tom Cable against a quick hook for Campbell, even after the comeback win against the St. Louis ...
Holla at me RAIDER NATION!
Guess who's back?!?
"They" say that winning is the best deodorant; However a 2 point (blacked out) home game win over the (clearly) rebuilding Rams is hardly enough to cover the smell coming out of Oakland. As I was saying The Raiders avoid 0-2 "black" hole but make no mistake it might be a month (or more) before our team wins another game (you check the upcoming schedule.. I don't see another Rams game... do you?)
It starts, where is always does (in today's n.f.l) with the quarterback. Many (but not me) were expecting Jason Campbell to come ...
When Jason Campbell arrived at the Oakland Raiders camp in April, following his acquisition during the NFL Draft that eventually led to JaMarcus Russell's release, he was supposed to be the man.
Campbell's poor showing in the first two regular season games, however, brought head coach Tom Cable to the conclusion that Bruce Gradkowski might be the right man to lead the Raiders to a victory against the Rams.
Well, Gradkowski replaced an ineffective Campbell after halftime and led Oakland to three scoring drives and a 16-14 victory over St. Louis in the home opener on Sunday. So, I think Cable chose wisely.
The ...
All offseason, the coaches and players sounded very confident going into the new season. Reports came out after the Week 1 loss to the Titans that the Raiders were overconfident heading into that game. The Raiders had all week to prepare for the Rams, who started a rookie quarterback and will likely pick in the top 10 again this year, but the Raiders barely beat them by two at home. Only the Oakland Raiders can leave fans and the media with more questions than answers following a win. Let's take a look at some areas of concern for the Raiders ...
The Oakland Raiders began their first at home game with a win. After attending opening games for the past decade it was worth driving to Oakland and see Darren McFadden put in 145 plus yards. Darren McFadden ran like a beast and the guy is extremely fast. The St. Louis Rams had a hard running Steven Jackson. But the Oakland Raider defense was just to fast and solid. Steven Jackson had no where to run and the youth of Scott, McClain and Huston was just too much for the St. Louis offense. Rookie Rolando McClain caught the WR ...
The Oakland Raiders defeated the St. Louis Rams, 16-14 at Oakland Coliseum yesterday for their first win of the season.Though many expected the Raiders to win this game, it was not easy, nor was it a sure thing at any point. The fashion in which the Raiders won, with stifling defense and a spark from backup quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, was not expected but certainly welcome, as Raider Nation was starving for a victory from a squad who has greater expectations than usual this season. Some players and coaches surprised by stepping up their games at the right time and getting the ...
One step at a time. First, we have a victory in the second game of the 2010 regular season.
Now, there is hope for two consecutive wins if the Oakland Raiders defeat the Arizona Cardinals.
Some say it can't be done. Others remain positive and faithful to the vision of winning a championship.
Here is some data to peruse.

Observations
1. If the Oakland Raiders play smart, then they can defeat the Cardinals.
2. If things go wrong in the first quarter, don't wait to change quarterbacks. Do it immediately or let Bruce Gradkowski start the game.
3. Yes, the game on Sept. 19 was against a team ...
For the Oakland Raiders and the citizens of the Raider Nation, it was a nice change of pace to see a victory. The Raiders, after a punishing game against the Titans in Week 1, were hosting Sam Bradford and the Rams, who had lost their week one matchup with the Cards.
After a first half that saw several failed scoring attempts, a failed fourth down attempt and a miss by Sebastian Janikowski, Tom Cable made the call to replace Jason Campbell with Bruce Gradkowski at halftime.
The results never looked better. A 3-7 score was turned around and until a late touchdown ...
