Week 7 was a wild one in the NFL. We saw upsets, controversy and some of the most brilliant offensive performances of the year. Teams who were supposed to be blown out stayed competitive throughout the day. The Bills lost to the Ravens in overtime. The Browns went on the road to beat the Saints. These 10 performers played pivotal roles in helping their teams stay competitive throughout the course of the game whether they won or lost.Begin Slideshow
Darren McFadden and the Oakland Raiders completely dismantled the Denver Broncos in every facet of the game at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver Colorado on Sunday. The offense scored a Raider team record 59 points, the defensive line spent more time in the Denver back field than Knowshon Moreno, and the special teams held the Broncos to only 36 total return yards and no points. In short, this was the most dominating the Raiders have been since winning Super Bowl XVIII over the Redskins, 38-9.However, the real key to the Raiders' victory was the career best performance by Darren McFadden. ...
What football team was this? Was this the same coaching staff? How did the Oakland Raiders blow out the Denver Broncos? Was this good Raiders or bad Broncos? Even if it is bad Broncos, it's still has to be good Raiders because the score was 59-14. The Raider's big win was due to good coaching, some players surprising while other players finally get opportunities. The usual suspects were also there. Okay, Denver fans, take your shots at me for sliming your team.  I needed this.  Raider Nation needed this.  The Oakland Raiders needed this.  I was definitely in a funk this week after the Raiders choked against the San Francisco 49ers.  The overnight decision by Roger Goodell to over-regulate the physicality of the game felt like a knife to my spleen. You know that feeling where you start to wonder if everything is just meaningless? Not only did this win give me a jump-start, but it also put the Raiders of new back on track with the Raiders of old. ...
For the first time this season, the Oakland Raiders had their top two running backs healthy at the same time and for an entire game. Oakland Raider fans were finally able to see the dynamic duo that the Raiders cut Justin Fargas in order to showcase. The result? Nothing short of dominance. Darren McFadden and Michael Bush lead a struggling Raiders team to a historic win at INVESCO Stadium on Sunday as the Denver Broncos hosted the Raiders for their first meeting this season. The healthy Raiders backfield of McFadden and Bush racked up 261 yards and five touchdowns as ...
The Oakland Raiders just scored 59 points on the Denver Broncos. The Raiders have never scored this many points in their rich history and are now in second place in the AFC West. The Raiders now hold a 2-0 record against divisional teams and have two games at home before their bye week. While the Raiders and the Raider Nation can celebrate their win today against the Broncos, they must remember they are still 3-4 and are now one and a half games behind the Kansas City Chiefs. Oakland needs to play consistent week in and week out and this game ...
The first five minutes were exciting and powerful. Did it stop? No. Two touchdowns in a matter of minutes. The Oakland Raiders kept the touchdowns coming until they broke the franchise record. Wow! I don't know exactly what made the difference, but a lot of us are grateful that the performance was superb. This game may have given a few people a near heart attack. I was braced for it. I knew it could happen. Let's just say that I felt it. So, I did a few unusual things and put some positive vibes out into the atmosphere as I am certain many others did, ...
The rules are changing in the NFL. Nevertheless, there is still room and space for the Oakland Raiders to tweak their play and become the crude, rude dudes that win more games. Football is a physical game where nice guys lose, and crude, rude dudes tend to win. If you saw the new movie about the kid who kept getting beat up by a child in Beijing, you silently cheered when the American kid got training and discipline to protect himself. I thought about the Oakland Raiders. I wondered if they were willing to learn new disciplines to win games. One thing is ...
The Oakland Raiders were held to nine points in last week's loss to San Francisco. It was the first time the Raiders scored less than 20 points since Week 2. Expect a rebirth for the Raiders offense, as Oakland looks for its third straight win in Denver against the banged-up Broncos. The Denver defense resembles a MASH unit. Elvis Dumervil has been out all season. Brian Dawkins and Robert Ayers are out today, and Champ Bailey is questionable. Look for the Raiders to pound the ball against a soft Broncos run defense and to take advantage of the Broncos' lack of a ...
Let's look forward and keep going. A couple of us have bought our T-bone steaks, brisket, chicken and sausage to tailgate during the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos game. Are you excited? Are you depressed? Are you positive? Are you negative? It doesn't matter what state of mind you are in, just get ready for a party to let your friends, family, and colleagues know that you still believe in the Oakland Raiders. According to www.raiders.com, this is the 100th game between the Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders. That number may have significance. There can be symbolism in numbers, so let's see what ...
