The Oakland Raiders' loss to the Bay Area rival San Francisco 49ers might have helped save Mike Singletary's job. However, it may very well have put Tom Cable's job in serious jeopardy moving forward. The players didn't look like they were ready to see the desperate team that they saw on Sunday. They also didn't try to put their foot on the throat of a team that didn't have any confidence in the first half. If Cable wants to keep his job, he needs to seriously reevaluate some players and what he's doing. The Raiders have an above-.500 roster but are getting ...
Disgusted. That is the only word I can use to explain the loss to the win less San Francisco 49ers. The game started out with excellent position only to stopped in the Red Zone once again with Jason Campbell (Mr. 3 and out) as QB.
Jason Campbell (Mr. 3 and out) has absolutely no heart to win the game. An example of this is when he threw an interception while passing to Zach Miller. He walks to the sideline and Hue Jackson is explaining the throw error , yet Jason Campbell just absorbs it.
I would have hoped for ...
Raiders fans were likely encouraged by the team's first half performance against their rivals across the bay—the San Francisco 49ers—on October 17. The Oakland Raiders' defense held the 49ers to a single field goal in the first 30 minutes.
After halftime, everything changed. It was almost as if the Oakland Raiders have a bipolar personality. In the first half of the game, they were fighting hard. During the second half, they seemed to fall apart.
It was just too much when Jason Campbell threw an accurate pass that hit the chest and bounced off the receiver whose hands just could not hold on ...
There are plenty of nuances I could state about today's game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders, but I won't. That is not to say that nuances and circumstances are not important, but there really wasn't more to the box score than meets the eye. The Raiders lost 9-17 and looked lethargic in doing so. After the high-octane game with the Chargers a week earlier, the Raiders were once again unable to maintain that energy into the next game. The Niners have been terrible in turnovers this season with minus-10. Against the Raiders, the Niners were plus-two. ...
Ever since Rich Gannon injured his neck and retired, the Oakland Raiders have seen nine different quarterbacks take their best shot at leading the team without succeeding: Kerry Collins, Andrew Walter, Aaron Brooks, Daunte Culpepper, Josh McCown, JaMarcus Russell, Bruce Gradkowski and Jason Campbell. All of these quarterbacks have failed to get the once vaunted Oakland passing game back on track.
Yesterday, when the Raiders traveled across the Bay Bridge to face the hapless San Francisco 49ers, the Oakland Raiders passing game put forth one of the weakest performances Raiders fans have seen over the past eight years of struggles.
Jason Campbell, ...
Adam Schefter is reporting that the Raiders are having a fire sale and are willing to trade anyone, including Nnamdi Asomugha.
This comes just days before the October 19th trade deadline.
Funny thing though is Schefter reports the same thing every year before the trade deadline and then again every offseason.
As it would turn out though it would seem that every time thus far Schefter has been full of crap.
The Raiders have even gone as far as to call Schefter out in the past calling him a "false rumor mongerer."
Could this be the year that the blind squirrel that is Adam Schefter ...
Where are the kings and queens? Don't worry, we will do it ourselves. We will declare a manifesto today.
You will add to the declaration in the comment section. I will start it, the Raider Nation will continue it, and the Oakland Raiders will accomplish it.
I, hereby, declare
1. More victories in 2010.
2. Fewer injuries in 2010.
3. Alert, strong, smart and resilient quarterbacking, no matter who is the starter.
4. More Raider Nation fans in the stands, wherever the Oakland Raiders play ball.
5. Increase value of the franchise.
6. More sales of Raider gear worldwide.
7. More Raider Nation fans at tailgate gatherings.
8. More Raider ...
It must be terribly sad to be a football fan in Northern California.
The better part of the last decade has provided Bay Area fans with a front-row seat to what "ineptitude" really means, both on and off the field. Now, maybe it hasn't been as bad as Pittsburgh for baseball fans, where the Pirates' entry on Wikipedia shows up second on a search for "worst baseball clubs of the last decade" (go ahead and Google it; it's sad). But losing seasons and dull Januarys have been the status quo in San Francisco and Oakland both since the 2003 season.
This year, ...
Will the loss to Baylor be the final straw?
Will this be the game which finally brings to an end the all-too-frustrating Dan Hawkins’ era?
Well, “no” … and “yes.”
Dan Hawkins will be on the sidelines for the Texas Tech game next weekend. In all likelihood, Hawkins will be patrolling the sidelines at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln the day after Thanksgiving.
But that should be it.
Six weeks from now, the 31-25 loss to Baylor will be looked as the turning point of the 2010 season.
A win over the Bears would have given the Buffs a 4-2 record at the midway point. With three winnable home ...
Raider fans have had a reputation for being some of the most hardcore loyal fans around. We wear our colors proud, we get wild at home games, tail-gate like no ones business and have even been known to take over our opponents stadiums.
But lately things have been different. The Raiders haven't even been selling out, hell they've had trouble filling the Oakland Coliseum to half capacity.
Look at the fans of the Raiders opponent this week, the San Francisco 49ers.
They haven't even won a game this year and have sold out every home game this year. Like the Raiders its been seven long years since the 49ers ...
