The Oakland Raiders are currently 5-4 and in second place in the AFC West.  Things didn't start good for the Raiders as they were off to their usual 1-3 start through four games.  Most people that don't know about the Raiders thought that this was the same old Raiders and that they were on their way to another double digit loss season.  The losses piled up quick but us Raider fans could see that this team was far better than what we've had in a long time.Through the last five weeks the Oakland Raiders are 4-1.  That's the second best ...
Heading into the 2010 NFL Draft, one of the biggest weaknesses the Raiders needed to address was the offensive line.  Most believed that they would draft the best available offensive lineman with the eighth overall pick.  There were a few players worthy of the pick, but with Russell Okung and Trent Williams off the board, the Raiders decided to go defense and drafted LB Rolando McClain. The second round came and there weren't many offensive lineman worthy of selecting that high in the second round other than Zane Beadles.  Some draft experts, like Mel Kiper Jr., thought for sure the Raiders should ...
The 2010 off season for the Oakland Raiders was highlighted by the acquisition of Jason Campbell. Raider owner Al Davis immediately deemed him as the next Jim Plunkett. Raider Nation was then sold and the Campbell immediately had high expectations. However, these expectations were hardly fair as Campbell is a new man on a new team. Still, the expectations were on him and he struggled out of the gate. Many in Raider Nation including myself considered Campbell to be another bust of a free agent move. Many clamoured for Bruce Gradkowski. After he didn't get it done, I was ready to see Kyle Boller. Did ...
The Oakland Raiders are heading into a bye week and at 5-4 have reason for excitement. They are currently on a three-game winning streak. In their last three games, the Silver and Black has outscored opponents by 115-37. The average rushing yards per game is 226.3. Jason Campbell has also raised his quarterback rating to an impressive 108.4 compared to the 10 rating he had against the San Francisco 49ers. In the AFC West however, the record speaks for itself, 3-0. This answers the question, Who is the better team in the race for the AFC West title. The Raiders have ...
It's November and the Oakland Raiders have a winning record. They will go into their bye week with a winning record for the first time since 2002. They will have a record of at least .500 until November 28th. They have an opportunity to be over .500 in December also. This is great for Al Davis, Tom Cable and the coaching staff and the players as well. More importantly this is great for the members of the Raider Nation. It hasn't been easy being a Raiders fan lately. Those who have stayed deserve to be applauded, those who are coming back will be ...
Tribute to an Ordinary Oakland Raiders Fan She was an ordinary person but she loved to hear me read articles to her about the Oakland Raiders. She was an intercessor. She believed that the team was going to do better. Pastor Tina Wilson would constantly pull for the Oakland Raiders and some of the senior Oakland Raiders who she encountered in the Southwest part of the United States. To her and others the Oakland Raiders symbolized a spirit of recovery, and restoration of ordinary people in the United States. She was aware of Al Davis' philosophy of giving young men a chance to prove themselves ...
We all hate to wait for the cable guy, but this one has arrived! In a year where the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl, Ron Artest kept his cool, and the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, I've learned that anything is possible. Now, the Oakland Raiders are once again relevant in the NFL and Coach Tom Cable has legitimized himself as a head coach.  This is quite possibly the most surreal week I can possibly remember. After the Raiders defeated the Kansas City Chiefs game last Sunday, I could not help but sense that game was an instant classic.  Not ...
As the kick sailed through the uprights on the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Oakland Raiders game Sunday, most fans were breathing a sigh of relief. A three-game winning streak, paired up with an impressive defense had the team looking at the bye week as a chance to improve on an already well-working offensive machine. To say the team needs this bye is understated. With the likes of Nmandi Asomugha, Zach Miller, Louis Murphy, Chaz Schilens and others out, the Raiders were starting to run on bits and pieces. Sure, Jacoby Ford stepped off the sidelines and etched his name into the Raider ...
Foreword Sometimes it is good to look back and see what was written and to measure how things have changed for the Oakland Raiders. The three consecutive wins are an excellent indicator that the Oakland Raiders are moving on up in the NFL. The performance in the second half of the game on Nov. 7 was a good example of the drive and passion the Oakland Raiders demonstrated to get a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Now what might the commentators be saying these days, Are they surprised? Are they dismayed? Are they converted to a more positive outlook for the Oakland ...
