As midseason passes, the AFC West debate of who's superior and who's inferior is picking up steam. Kansas City Chiefs fans argue that the Oakland Raiders have no credibility, that the Denver Broncos are in disarray and that the San Diego Chargers will be a contender but won't challenge them enough to take the division. Raiders fans argue that Kansas City hasn't proven anything by winning against sub-.500 teams, the exception being the 4-4 Jacksonville Jaguars. They think San Diego will lose the rest of their games this year after breaking the consecutive win streak and that Denver is the worst team in ...
Our beloved Raiders have given us something to smile about for two straight weeks, first annihilating the hated Denver Broncos 59-14 on October 24th, in Denver no less, and then backing up that performance with a tour de force home victory over former division rival Seattle in front of a small but raucous Halloween crowd. To anyone who read last week's PHK, let me say this: I'm sure glad the Big Guy upstairs has a good sense of humour! He apparently forgave my ill-advised Black Hole comment and allowed nature to take it's course. Now, for the first time since 2002, the ...
Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders Sunday November 7, 2010, 4:15 EST PM Line: Kansas City +3   Overview It’s been a while, but the rivalry between the Chiefs and Raiders is finally restored to it’s fullest. Both teams are competing for their share of a division title. The Chiefs sit at 5-2, while the Raiders are 4-4. The Raiders have won three of their last four, making them one of the hottest teams in the league right now. The Raiders would love to go into their bye week after beating their division rival, so this is a huge game for ...
The Oakland Raiders have been nothing short of phenomenal at setting the tone in the last four games.  The Oakland Raiders have returned! Not only by playing one of their greatest games in Denver, but also by playing some good football and proving the media giants announcers wrong! All of a sudden the media is acknowledging what billions of Raider fans already knew. The Boys are Back in Town!    Prior season start, Raiders coach Tom Cable stated that they were going for the AFC West title. Lo and Behold, the Raiders are 4-4 and in second place at the half way point. Arrrrrggghh   At the start of the season they appeared out of sync and although they played ...
At the half way mark of the season, the Kansas City Chiefs have the league #1 ranked rushing attack. However, I believe the Raiders have the best tandem at running back in the NFL. The Raider defense stopping the Chief's tandem of Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles could help the Raiders move up one spot to lead the league in rushing. But let's not focus so much on stats. Jamaal Charles gets his yards after Thomas Jones wears the defense down. Charles is clearly not the kind of guy that can carry the load himself. Ahmad Bradshaw looks to be able to carry the ...
Have you ever been very hungry and no food was around? For seven years Raider Nation has been very hungry for wins. There was a time when some people in Raider Nation thought that they were going to starve to death because the losses were too frequent and no wins were near. The smile on Tom Cable's face was the kind you see after you finish a great meal. His face showed inner peace because the Oakland Raiders are performing better each week. His November 4th interview was positive and realistic. He knows that his team should be at 6-2, but 4-4 ...
Over at my site—www.GuysNation.com—I do a weekly power ranking of all 32 NFL teams.  It's a hugely subjective process in which I try to account for a team's strength of schedule, margin of victory, good wins and bad losses. Where do the Oakland Raiders currently rank after eight weeks of NFL action? I usually try not to get too excited about any one victory, even in the case of blowout wins by huge margins.  There are exceptions, though, and when a team wins a road game ...
The trials and tribulations of Jason Campbell as an Oakland Raider have been alternately interesting and painful to watch, depending on when you tuned in. In the beginning, all was wonderful as the perennially under-appreciated Campbell was set to erase the memory of he who shall not be referenced and help return the Raiders to respectability. In the minds of Raider Nation and Mr. Al Davis, it was a matter of when, and not if. Once the games began, it was ugly and bitter as Campbell failed to grasp the offense, held the ball too long and generally looked frazzled ...
Who would have thought we’d be talking about who would gain control of the AFC West at this point in the season between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs? Better yet, who would be in the AFC cellar, San Diego or Denver? However, that’s exactly what this game represents, as Oakland could gain control of the AFC West with a win in Sunday’s home match up against the Chiefs. It would be the first time they have led the division in nearly a decade. Kansas City has dominated the match ups between the teams, winning 12 of the last ...
