Al Davis is one of the great minds in NFL football still but people have only the seen the bad lately. However, Davis has revolutionized the game of football many times over. The reason why is because he is willing to take risks and they don't always turn out well. The bottom line the fact that he give guys that wouldn't normally get an opportunity to do something special. He may look at times but but when it's good, it changes the game. Turn the page to see how Davis is doing it again.  Begin Slideshow
Football fans, this has been the season of utmost parity in the NFL, and it's also been the season of injuries, lots of injuries.  Tight ends in particular have been affected tremendously.  Vernon Davis of the San Francisco 49ers and Zach Miller of the Oakland Raiders were taken out of the game last week.  Zach Miller doesn't look like he's going to return anytime soon. Wide receivers have also been affected although not to such an extent.  DeSean Jackson of the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a concussion, and he should return this week (although quite possibly not 100 percent).Tennessee Titans receiver Kenny Britt got taken out in last Sunday's game, and it looks quite severe.  So what are we ...
These past weeks have been surreal for the Oakland Raiders. They are currently 4-4 and in second place in the AFC West facing their AFC West nemesis the KC Chiefs next Sunday.   It appears the the quarterback for this AFC rivalry could possibly be Bruce Gradkowski, provided his shoulder is healed. This should be a huge plus for the Oakland Raiders but the Raiders have been juggling QBs from the start of the season.   The Oakland Raiders started out the season with Jason Campbell as starter. Jason Campbell played poorly against the Tennessee Titans. The following week after halftime against the ...
They say revenge is a dish best served cold. For seven long years Raider Nation has endured the bitter taste of defeat at the hands of almost every team in the NFL, particularly our hated division rivals.  This year, it is time to sit down, cleanse the palette, and prepare for an ice cold dinner. It is still too early to predict Super bowl, or even Playoffs for the Raiders, but the idea seems to warm the soul a bit.  The fact that neither can be ruled out mid-season, for the first time in almost a decade, is a relief to say the least. The recent ...
The Oakland Raiders are on their first two-game winning streak since the end of the 2008 season, and they have done so in dominant fashion. The Raiders have outscored their last two opponents by the score of 92-17. The Raiders have won their last two and three of their last four games, which started with a 35-27 victory over the San Diego Chargers in Week 5. The Raiders offensive outburst began with a 59-14 route of the Denver Broncos in Week 7, than a 33-3 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8. The Raider offense has been carried by third ...
The San Francisco Giants have just completed an improbable run to the playoffs which ended in a World Series victory. The question sure to follow is who will be the Giants of 2011 and the answer is simple—it will be the Oakland Athletics. The Giants made their run to the World Series on the strength of their pitching staff. Don't look now, but the Athletics pitching staff is younger than the Giants' and may be even better than theirs next season. The Athletics pitching staff goes five men deep, and each one is capable of throwing a shutout, or in the case ...
If you had told me a few months ago that the game between the Raiders and Chiefs at the Coliseum on November 7th, 2010, would be of great significance to both teams in terms of playoffs and the AFC West Division title, I would have declared you nuts. I'm definitely not the only one who felt this way prior to the 2010 NFL season. But here we are eight weeks later, with the bitter rivals set to battle to get ahead in the race for the AFC West crown. Although this game will not necessarily determine the leader of the West, the winner ...
It takes different strokes for different folks. Jason Campbell may be the type of player who needs something to reach for. Campbell seems to be trying harder, and playing better as the second QB, rather than being officially designated as the starter. When he was the starter at the beginning of the season, there were a few problems that were evident. Now that he is in the second position, he seems to be trying harder to keep up to par. It would take an expert on human behavior to really know what's going on. Anyway, the team is getting the best performance out ...
Eight weeks ago professional annalist had plenty of negative comments about the Oakland Raiders.  You would think that professionals in the broadcasting business would know the difference between constructive criticism and disrespecting a player or team.  Fans have a reason to talk out of turn, through out the off-season fans are sold on the idea that their home team is ready for a great season, and when that team does not live up to their promise, that makes fans very upset. When players consistently hear such negative talk about them through out the NFL, like the Raiders have it is hard to keep a level head when ...
The Oakland Raiders opened this season looking about as terrible as they have been over the past few seasons. Not since Rich Gannon’s Super Bowl run have the Raiders been a contender in any sense of the word. The seasons since Gannon’s retirement have seen a revolving door at the quarterback position which hit a new low with the failed JaMarcus Russell project. The Raiders began the season 1-3 and they looked poised to reclaim their spot at the bottom of the AFC West standings. However, victories over the San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, and Seattle Seahawks have the Raiders ...
