This weekend’s match-up in Pittsburgh between the Oakland Raiders and the Steelers turns back the years. It is old school. It is in your face, smash-mouth football and it has us all drooling again after years of starvation.
The AFC may have been dominated in recent years by high-powered passing offenses run by Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, but looking back on the history of the AFC Championship, two teams stand tall – the Raiders and the Steelers.
In the early years of the AFC, these two teams were utterly dominant. In the first 11 years of the Lamar Hunt Trophy, the ...
Darren McFadden is shedding his bust label by averaging 108 yards per game this season. But he faces the the Pittsburgh Steeler's top ranked run defense on Sunday.
There are many fantasy people that recommend that you sit McFadden against that No.1 run defense. But as the old dictum goes, "Everything isn't always what it seems."
That is especially the case in Sunday's Raider Steeler game.

The Oakland Raiders will travel to Pittsburgh and battle the Steelers for what appears to be a defensive game. This game is important for the Oakland Raiders as it will show the competitive edge and winning attitude in Oakland. This new and young Oakland Raiders are fast and strong. Jason Veldheer, Rolando McClain and great examples.. The Oakland Raiders for some reason, seem to get , well, bad press.Even Oakland Raider RB Darren McFadden stated that the Oakland Raiders haven't been taken serious in their road to the AFC West title. This is one reason why the Raiders are looking ...
Al Davis is a football genius. He is one of the few men in the history of the NFL to change the game and help make it what it is today. The team that he built in his image has had a rough decade in the 2000's despite making it to another Super Bowl early on in 2002. The media likes to come down hard on Davis, mainly because he doesn't like to let the media into his organization. Truth is as time passes, everyone will forget about all these reporters and players who like to mock Mr. Davis, but ...
Tom Cable has named Jason Campbell as the starting quarterback when he takes the Oakland Raiders into Heinz field to take on an old rival—the Pittsburgh Steelers. The hatred between these teams—and their fans, goes back a long time. Don't expect too many hugs or fist bumps at the midfield coin toss. Not since the days of Kenny Stabler versus the "Steel Curtain" and Terry Bradshaw versus the "11 angry men" has a Raiders versus Steelers tilt meant so much. The Raiders are looking to solidify their place atop the AFC West, and the Steelers are trying to keep pace with the red-hot ...
After a nice, relaxing bye week which couldn't have worked out much better for the Raiders, the boys get ready to buckle their chinstraps and take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Steel City this Sunday in a rare 1 p.m. appearance this season. The Raiders entered the bye on a roll, having won their previous three games and four of their last five. A strong running attack coupled with an aggressive, attacking defense have been the main reasons, but solid quarterback play from Jason Campbell and excellent special teams have been large contributing factors as well. After the Kansas City Chiefs ...
Oakland Raiders at Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday November 21st, 2010 1:00 PM EST
Line: Pittsburgh -8
Overview:
The Oakland Raiders started out in pathetic fashion. At 1-3, the optimism was swept away from the locker room. Now, the Raiders are on a three game win streak and have moved to 5-4, which puts them on top of the AFC West.
What is even more impressive is their 3-0 record against division opponents this season. The Raiders have been given new life and the Steelers will be looking to take that life away on Sunday.
The 6-3 Pittsburgh Steelers started out the season ...
The Oakland Athletics are up to their old tricks of headlining the off-season's signings. This time, Edwin Encarnacion is the new bat in their lineup.
Billy Beane had said he wanted to address the lack of power in the lineup and, as of last weekend, he's done just that.
While Encarnacion is by no stretch the missing link that the A's need, he's certainly a step in that direction.
Only batting .244 last season, it's not the average the Athletics are gaining. It's the 21 home runs, which would have led the club last year (Kouzmanoff had only 17).
Oakland now has two viable ...
I don't know about you, but I am guilty of looking at the numbers. Granted, numbers can't tell the whole story, but they can certainly give us a "reality check."
After visiting the archives of data for the Oakland Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers who will cause flashes of light and sparks to fly, in red, white and blue in the minds of fans on Sunday, a few observations have been made.
Look at the numbers, just for a moment. Remember, however, that the passion and spirit of the Oakland Raiders can transcend any story the numbers may attempt to tell.

What a great week of football that we had last week.
There were many surprises last week.
The Bills got their first win of the season. The Broncos finally beat a division foe at home under the Josh McDaniels Era.
The Patriots looked like the best team in the AFC. The Giants got blown out at home by the Cowboys.
As the season progresses, teams will start to separate themselves from the pack and show they are true playoff contenders.
Last week, I went 3-2 with my picks. That gives me an overall record of 21-19 this season for my upset picks.
This week is a little ...
