The Oakland Raiders are now in Jacksonville set to play the Jaguars with the playoffs on the line. The Raiders are coming off of a major league upset of the San Diego Chargers but are only 2-2 in their last four games. The Chargers are 3-1 in that same stretch with two of those wins against team that beat the Raiders this year. Add to that the fact that the Jaguars have won their last four games against the Raiders. But styles and match ups make football games so there is plenty of reason to believe that the Raiders can win this game.  Turn the ...
At my site—www.GuysNation.com—I do a weekly power ranking of all 32 NFL teams.  It's a hugely subjective process in which I account for a team's strength of schedule, margin of victory, good wins and bad losses. Where do the Oakland Raiders currently rank? I'll admit it, I was starting to buy into the Oakland Raiders.  Leading into their bye week, they went on three-game streak of victories, with two lopsided wins—against the Broncos in Denver and then while hosting the Seahawks.  Their Week 9 victory over the Chiefs wasn't by ...
It would be easy to say that the race in the AFC West is over. The Chiefs currently hold a two game lead over the Chargers and Raiders with four games to go. The reality is that this race is far from over. The AFC West has produced some of the biggest meltdowns and comebacks in recent years. The Chargers are famous for their second half surges and sneaking into the playoffs. The Broncos are famous for falling apart at the end of the season. The Raiders, well they are new to this. Most of their roster has never been in ...
Following back-to-back blowout losses to Pittsburgh and Miami, it looked like the Oakland Raiders (6-6) might go quietly into the night. That certainly is not the case.As 13-point underdogs, the Raiders snapped San Diego’s four-game win streak with a decisive 28-13 victory to sweep the season series. Heading into the season the Raiders had dropped 13 straight to the Chargers. The big story was Oakland’s running game. The Raiders rank third in the league with 149 yards rushing per game, but they had been held to a total of 74 yards rushing in back-to-back losses.Against San Diego, they busted out for 251 ...
This Sunday the Oakland Raiders will look to feed off their impressive win against the San Diego Chargers when they go on the road to take on the AFC South-leading Jacksonville Jaguars. Few people were even giving the Raiders a chance to keep it close against the Chargers, but Oakland dominated the game from the start, winning 28-13 on the road. The Jaguars also went on the road and came away with a win, as they downed division rival Tennessee 17-6 for their fourth win in their last five ...
The best weekend the NFL had to offer in their 2010 regular season fizzled into a whimper as it exposed hot air from substance.  The surprising Tampa Bay Buccaneers took a red hot Atlanta Falcons team to the wire while the scrappy Detroit Lions made the Chicago Bears sweat out another win over them this season. Kansas City took a commanding lead in the AFC West while the Saint Louis Rams and Seattle Seahawks continued their trek to a show down in the last week of the season that could determine the NFC West title.  Other teams got exposed as more media hype than reality, as their ...
This week, Tom Cable will lead the Oakland Raiders into Florida to take on Jack Del Rio and the Jacksonville Jaguars. This game will be of paramount importance for the Raiders to stay in the playoff hunt.David Garrard is having a great season, Maurice Jones-Drew is running hard and the Jaguars defense is playing better in recent weeks.Like the Raiders, the Jaguars are a team on the rise. They are currently leading the AFC South and will be looking to solidify that lead by beating the resurgent Raiders. The Jaguars have their weaknesses and the Raiders have an opportunity to ...
The Oakland Raiders travel to Jacksonville in Week 14 to take on the Jaguars in a pivotal matchup in the AFC playoff picture. The Raiders are coming off a huge AFC West victory in Week 13 when they handled the San Diego Chargers 28-13. This was a big win for the Raider Nation who were losers of two straight prior to their completion of a sweep of the Chargers—their first sweep since 2001. The Raiders running game was nonexistent in Weeks 11 and 12, but they rediscovered their strength, rumbling for 251 yards on the ground in their upset victory. The Raiders will ...
The Raiders are coming off a huge win over the division rival Chargers who seemed unbeatable and were coming off a dominant performance against the Colts.  The victory over San Diego completed the sweep that nobody saw coming.  Heading into the year the Chargers had beaten the Raiders 13 consecutive times.  There were plenty of close games including two last season in which the Raiders had a fourth-quarter lead but always ended up losing one way or another.  This year's Raiders aren't the same old Raiders of the last seven seasons.  These Raiders fight.  These Raiders don't quit.  These Raiders know that they can ...
Last Sunday the Raiders welcomed back WR Chaz Schilens.  The 6'4", 225 lb. WR finally made his 2010 season debut.  Injuries, once again have kept him off the field for most of the season.  When he can go, he is easily our best option at WR.  He is a tough matchup for DBs.  Not only is he very big but he has sub-4.4 speed.  He also has very good hands and will go up and get the ball if you put it near him. A glaring need this season has been a go-to WR.  Jacoby Ford has emerged as of late, but for ...
