Marcel Reece was pretty much unknown unless you are a Raiders fan.  He is one of those rare athletes that have that size and speed combination that makes it tough for defenses to match up against.  He played his college ball at Washington, where he was primarily a receiver.  The guy just kept on growing and needed to find a new position to make it in the NFL.  At 6'3" 240 lbs he has the build to play the fullback position.  Before the season he was in a battle for the starting fullback position.  His playmaking ability was on display during ...
The Oakland Raiders hosted the Denver Broncos on a muddied field in an Oakland Coliseum filled with thousands of fans in Silver and Black. This was to be the game that could put them 5-0 in the division. This was definitely a game they had to win. Every game for the Oakland Raiders is a win or die scenario. The Oakland Raiders are battling for survival. The Oakland Raiders must win these three games in order to get into the playoffs. The Silver and Black attack started game one by defeating the Denver Broncos 39-23 and handing QB Tim Tebow his ...
I don’t know if you noticed two things, but the Oakland A’s with their ragtag, no-name pitching staff and always-youthful roster somehow stumbled their way to an 81-81 (.500) record last season in the suddenly wide-open American League West. Keep in mind it's probably only going to take 85 wins to take this division anyway and the A's are the most improved. Also, keep in mind that every year there is a small market club that seemingly comes out of nowhere. Last year the Reds, my pre-season Wild Card pick, exceeded even my expectations by winning the NL Central. Consider the ...
If you need a little encouragement, look at the data presented in this article. The win average over the history of the four franchises shows that the Oakland Raiders have .549 above the Broncos, Colts and Chiefs. Broncos 0.523                         Colts 0.521                         Chiefs 0.519                         Oakland 0.549                             2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 to date Oakland total wins 12 10 11 4 5 4 2 4 5 5 6   Focusing only on the Oakland Raider's total wins since 2000, we see that the pattern shows a monotonic sequence from 2006 to date: two, four, five, five, six. The number of total wins per season is increasing. During the history of the franchise, it seems that Oakland has earned above 300 points 36 times, if we include ...
Denver Broncos at Oakland RaidersSunday December 19, 2010 4:15 PM ESTLine: Oakland -8   Overview The Broncos organization is in shambles. Ex-head coach Josh McDaniels gutted the franchise and left a path of destruction with every turn he made. The Broncos are in a valley and it is shocking that the organization gave McDaniels so much power that he was able to do damage that probably set the franchise back ten years. Last week, they got blown away by the Cardinals in a 30-point loss. The Raiders are 6-7 this season, but they have made strides. They have lost three of ...
The Raiders' playoff hopes took a huge blow last weekend, as they were unable to sustain early dominance and essentially gave away a 38-31 win to the Jacksonville Jaguars. One encouraging thing from this game was that the Raiders, who typically do not travel well to the East Coast, showed none of the usual malaise or rust after a cross-country plane ride. They came out on fire and took the fight to the Jags, and entered the locker room with a 17-7 lead.Jacksonville, though, put up 31 points in the second half, made big plays when it mattered, and held the ...
Tim Tebow is a big deal, even if his team is not. Tebow was the most talked-about rookie quarterback in the league before the season started. Now, as the season enters the final three weeks, he could be the seventh rookie to start at quarterback this season. Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy are the only two rookies who have showed they can change their team and lead them to victories. Can Tebow do the same against a fierce Oakland Raiders defense? The Raiders' defensive line leads the rest of the league in sacks. Richard Seymour, Tommy Kelly, Matt Shaughnessy and ...
Everybody knew Jacoby Ford was going to be an Oakland Raider from the second he finished his 40-yard dash at the combine with a 4.28, the only question was what round would the Raiders take him in?  Many expected him to the be the Raiders second round pick but they waited patiently and took him in the fourth round. Since then its just been getting better each week. Ford's first real big impact came in the game against Kansas City.  He came up big starting with the opening kickoff of the second half.  He took the kick and returned it 94-yards for ...
A Pep Talk Tension is building up. Some folks are talking about the tension between the coaches of the Oakland Raiders. Tension can be good. It can be the fundamental force that gets folks to perform better near the end of the season. Some folks just don't believe it's over yet. Let's say that some truly believe that the Oakland Raiders can be redeemed in the last three games of the 2010 season. Defeating the Broncos, Colts and the Chiefs is absolutely necessary to convince so many that this year was different from previous years. Let's hope Kyle Boller is better prepared in case ...
The Oakland Raiders are an unbeaten 4-0 against AFC West foes this season. This mark includes a 59-14 rout at Denver on Oct. 24. NFL oddsmakers expect Oakland to remain perfect in divisional play when they host the Broncos Sunday. They have listed the Raiders as a 6.5-point favorite with the total set at 43. If history is any indicator, this game will not be a gimme for Oakland.  The Raiders have been outscored 64-17 in consecutive home losses to the Broncos. They have also not swept the season series since 2002, which ...
