Denver (3-10) travels to Oakland (6-7) as the Raiders remain in a scramble for a playoff berth.
The Oakland Raiders have won two in a row and appear to be hitting their stride with with one of the better running attacks in the league. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos have lost seven of their last eight and are reeling toward the finish line of the season. Denver lost its coach Josh McDaniels a couple of weeks ago, so this is a team that has little to play for.
The Raiders have gotten surprisingly good play of late from quarterback ...
Nothing is impossible. The timing is what makes the difference.
When I started writing about the Oakland Raiders I thought it would make sense to research a college team as well. Most of my students are interested in both college and professional football.
The Oakland Raiders are my favorite because of the historical composition of the team, and the fact that the owner is a man who will run toward a vision and take a few risks. Some of us live vicariously as others who are leaders step out to open doors of opportunity for others.
One day while sitting in the lobby ...
The Oakland Raiders must face their final three games of the season with pride, poise, confidence and the worst case of hunger to do some devouring in the NFL. The Silver and Black are in a tight spot as they must defeat the Denver Broncos, the Indianapolis Colts and the Kansas City Chiefs in order to have a chance at playoff contention. This is no easy task for any NFL team, but this is no ordinary team. This is the Silver and Black with an improved Attack! In fact, its a reborn Oakland Raider team with a 4-0 record ( ...
Recent news concerning Raiders offensive coordinator Hue Jackson has included tension with current head coach Tom Cable, and an emergence as one of the leading head coaching candidates for the 2011 season.
All this talk should be an alarm for Raider Nation. The Raider Nation that has suffered in mediocrity for nearly a decade, only to rise out of the ashes back to respectability in 2010. Many will credit this rise to a number of factors, which can be no doubt true. But one major factor has to be OC Hue Jackson.
I’m not one for throwing a bunch of stats in your face. This season’s offensive ...
The Oakland Raiders playoff vital signs are low and falling fast now that the San Diego Chargers destroyed the San Francisco 49ers. But the Raiders still have a pulse and will continue to fight for their playoff lives on Sunday. That fight will be against the rival Denver Broncos The Broncos still have in mind the 59-14 behind-kickin' they took earlier this season to the Raiders. There would be nothing greater for the Broncos than to ruin what little playoff hopes the Raider have as revenge. The Raiders just let a great opportunity to pick up a game on the Chiefs and stay with the Chargers ...
Three is a important number in literature.
Three blind mice.
Three times a charm.
There are three games remaining in the 2010 season.
Consistency can be demonstrated by looking at the fact that the Oakland Raiders have defeated the San Diego Chargers two times in 2010.
If they defeat the Broncos on Sunday, the indication of some type of consistency will, again, be demonstrated.
Moreover, if they defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17, the Raider Nation will have the last laugh.
An 8-8 or 9-7 season would be an improvement over the past few years.
Some of you may laugh at the fact that there is ...
Oakland Raiders' running back Darren McFadden is having an outstanding year and that will continue this Sunday at home against the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos rank 31st in the NFL in rush defense giving up over 150 yards per game, and are giving up 23.5 fantasy points to opposing running backs.
McFadden totaled 196 yards and reached the end zone four times against the Broncos in Week 7, 165 of those coming on the ground.
McFadden carried the ball just six times in that game so fantasy owners should look for a lot of big plays from the third-year back from Arkansas.
McFadden has ...
The Oakland Raiders went from second in the AFC West to third place as they lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Now at 6-7, the Oakland Raiders are the last AFC team in the hunt for a playoff shot. In other words, they are hanging by a thread and need a miracle to happen if they are to get back in contention. So what is needed for the Oakland Raiders? Looking at the AFC West race: the Kansas City Chiefs lead the division with an 8-5 record, the San Diego Chargers have improved to a 7-6 record and in ...
Doing power rankings are tough, but because of the limited number of games on an NFL schedule, it's one of the only ways to get an idea for which teams are better than one another given factors other than just their records.
At my site, www.GuysNation.com, I do a weekly power ranking of all 32 NFL teams. It's a hugely subjective process in which I account for a team's strength of schedule, margin of victory, good wins and bad losses.
Where do the Oakland Raiders currently rank?
I'll admit it, I was starting to buy into the Oakland Raiders. Leading into their bye week, they went ...
For the first time in a long time, the Raider Nation suffered a case of the “NFL Sunday Blues” that actually meant something.
Come December, the Raiders are normally scrounging the league for measly, last minute wins, but this Sunday the Raiders took a loss that might actually cost them a trip to the playoffs.
While the Raiders weren’t able to pull out the win against the surging Jaguars, they played some top-notch football.
Jason Campbell packed in 324 passing yards and two touchdowns, looking very relaxed and fluid within the pocket. Darren “the Man” McFadden continued to play at the top ...
