The Oakland Raiders lost a heartbreaker in Jacksonville last Sunday and failed to pick up a game on the Kansas City Chiefs. They also gave the game back that they took from the Chargers the week before.
The Raiders now need to win out and depend on the Chiefs and the December-dominant Chargers to lose to get in the playoffs. That doesn't look too good for the Silver and Black so it's time to play for next year.
Wrong!
You never play for next year until you are mathematically out of the playoff picture. Plus, there is still a great chance that the Raiders ...
The Oakland A’s finished 11th in the American League in runs scored (663), 13th in HRs (109) and 10th in OPS (.702) in 2010. Despite those pedestrian offensive numbers, the A’s still managed to finish .500 on the season.
Going into the offseason, offense was and still is a top priority. The A’s have been in on a couple of free agents this season, but so far have been spurned by some of the bigger names on the market. It seems like Oakland at times can’t even give away their money.
However, one guy willing to take their dollars is Hideki ...
A Little Pep Talk "Stay the course" is a phrase that I heard Coach Tom Cable use in one of his media interviews. It has prompted me to think about striving and pressing toward a goal or a mark in the NFL. If, in fact, each team in the NFL is unique, then the Oakland Raiders are unique. Uniqueness defies comparability. In other words, the quality of uniqueness can not be compared to any other team. If compared, then the comparison determines who is above or below another team. In fact, the uniqueness of the Oakland Raiders guarantees that ...
Mr. Al Davis and the the Oakland Raider organization have done a great job turning this team around. Compared to last years season the Raiders have overcome some huge obstacles. The first of course being the QB issue. This season the Oakland Raiders retained head coach Tom Cable. Tom Cable has proven to many that he is devoted to the team. Since his hiring Tom Cable alongside Hue Jackson and John Marshall have put up some great numbers this season. They haven't won every game but the offense and defense look much improved. The Raiders are now 6-7 overall, 4-0 ...
When a player has an opportunity to play in the NFL, he leaves people wanting to know the trials and tribulations it took to get there, as if there is a secret to your success.
When people ask me, I wish that I could give them a really cool answer; the truth is, however, there is no secret.
It's no different than anything else: A determined mindset to reach the goals you set for yourself, and a little luck.
One of the defining characteristic of a NFL player is to never be satisfied.
So, when you hear people make comments like, "The team should be satisfied they did better then ...
You could point the finger in different directions in yesterday's close loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The special teams let us down. Jacoby Ford's fumble set up a Jacksonville touchdown, and just after we tied the game with just over a minute to go, the coverage team allows a big return to the Oakland 30, setting up the game-winning score. You could also say the run defense let us down, allowing both Maurice Jones-Drew and Rashad Jennings to go over 100 yards, but the numbers don't tell the whole story against the run. Up until that last run by MJD, the Raiders ...
The Oakland Raiders lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, making their playoff hopes very slim.
The Raiders are now 6-7 and need to win their final three games and get some help from the Chargers and Chiefs to win the AFC West.
While it is still possible, it doesn't seem very likely.
Although, Raider Nation should be proud of this Raiders team.
A wise man (Terrell White) told me before the season, that this would be the Raiders' "Jump Off" year: The year where they become more competitive and set themselves up for success next season.
Oakland has accomplished many things this season that ...
After a big start to their game in Jacksonville with the Jaguars, the Raider lost a close one 38-31.When the Raiders don't win, it's usually the quarterback and/or the running game that doesn't get things going. But both Darren McFadden and Jason Campbell had big days, and the Raiders still didn't get it done. This Oakland Raider team is definitely on the verge of being special. Unfortunately for the Raiders, their weaknesses leaked just enough to keep their strengths from taking over the game. Some of those weaknesses are young and not ready for such a big game yet, but will get there. Then ...
The Oakland Raiders traveled to Jacksonville to play the Jacksonville Jaguars and lost in a 38-31 nail biting game. These two teams were evenly matched when it came to the running game. This game was also important for both teams. For the Oakland Raiders it was a shot at getting one game away from the Kansas city Chiefs who currently lead the division. For Jacksonville, it was an opportunity to remain on top of the AFC South. Defensively it seemed the Oakland Raiders had the upper hand as the defense continued to pound away at David Garrard. For many ...
A Little Pep Talk To Pump It Up!
It's time to move on. The Oakland Raiders have a point to make.
Some folks think it was luck that gave them the victory over the Broncos earlier this season; it was more than luck, in my opinion. To support the opinion of folks like me, the Oakland Raiders definitely have to overcome the Broncos in the upcoming game.
If not, then the game will be considered some type of outlier, and will further demonstrate what some folks believe are inconsistencies in the play-calling of the Oakland Raiders.
Sometimes the Oakland Raiders remind me of the ...
