In four years with the Oakland Raiders, Zach Miller has established himself as one of the NFL's best tight ends. Miller doesn't get the recognition that he deserves, but whoever lands him this offseason will be much better for it.The Raiders are going to do their best to try and keep the talented TE in Oakland, although they won't be the only ones who want Miller. Miller seems like a low-key guy, who could ultimately take less money to stay in Oakland or go somewhere he can win. After the Raiders showed progress this past season it could be possible Miller ...
One week ago, the Oakland Raiders were looking at their last week of the 2010 football season. A fan of the Raiders could look at the season as one that got away and looking at the Kansas City game, might take some of the sting out of going 8-8.
As it was, someone forgot to tell Kansas City and the Chiefs that these Raiders were angry. They were cheated and they wanted something to mark this season.
After 60 minutes of football last Sunday, the Raiders went out on a high note, throttling the Chiefs in their own stadium, where they had ...
The A’s acquired Kevin Kouzmanoff last offseason to fill the void that Eric Chavez would inevitably create. After one season Kouzmanoff has worn out his welcome.
It is not as though “Kouz” has played so far below his career averages in Oakland, he has not, but the Oakland front office should have seen his numbers and known that he was not worth the money, even if he makes very little relative to the rest of the league.
In three full seasons in San Diego Kouzmanoff hit 59 home runs, a respectable number especially in a pitcher’s park like Petco. When the A’s ...
We’ve all been fixated on the coaching change in Oakland where Al Davis elected not to renew Tom Cable’s contract despite, by all accounts, the Raiders making significant, if inconsistent, progress this season. However, with the changes coming this off season to the Raiders roster, a new head coach should be of less concern than the re-signing of several key free agents.
While Raider Nation saw progress, an 8-8 season is seldom something to celebrate. A “we’re not losers any more”,(or “we don’t suck as bad as we used to”), wasn’t the mantra Davis wanted.
Letting Cable go makes sense if ...
"I can't go through another head coach".The above comment was made by Oakland Raiders, Hall of Fame kicker, Shane Lechler. Shane Lechler has already played under six head coaches in a decade and you have to wonder how the rest of the players feel since the release of former head coach Tom Cable. Shane Lechler went on to further comment that the release could affect the team's ability to retain free agents OL Robert Gallery and RB Michael Bush. This is not good news the Silver and Black. In fact, it disrupts the positive spirits of a team, that ...
I decided to step away from the Davis/Cable/Jackson saga to tackle another topic I know a lot of Raider Fans debate about, and that's the subject of Darrius Heyward-Bey.
Taken with the seventh pick in the 2009 Draft, a pick that many of us (including myself) thought was reserved for Michael Crabtree, it seems like the Oakland Organization (i.e. Al Davis) saw something in him that seemingly no one else did.
As a Seminole fan, I have watched my 'Noles take on some of the greatest defenders, hardest hitters, and quickest people to make the jump to the NFL.
From Jacoby Ford and CJ ...
Let the fun begin... Yeah, I love watching Oakland Raider football every Sunday. But to be honest, the offseason is just as fun. Cable is gone (good move), Hue will be our next coach (better move) and the task of building on the 2010 season will begin. There are a lot of key free agents that Oakland must re-sign in order to maintain their team. There are also a couple of disgruntled players not so happy about Cable's firing. Could they leave an emerging Oakland team for spite? Money talks, so I doubt it, but... Let's take a look at ...
At the end of the 2009 season, many Raider fans and writers began playing the blame game. And a lot of that blame landed on Mario Henderson. Raider fans were about ready to execute Mario Henderson after his 2009 campaign where he led all NFL left tackles giving up 9.5 sacks. Some fans were even blaming Henderson for the Bruce Gradkowski injuries and the struggles from the QB position. Fast forward to 2010 and Henderson would start the season only to be replaced by rookie Jared Veldheer. In 11 starts, this rookie from a Division II school would give up 10 ...
The Oakland Raiders went into the season with lofty expectations of winning the division and making the playoffs. For the first time since the merger in 1970, the Raiders are the first team to go undefeated in their division and not make the playoffs. However, if you win every game in your division, emphatically beat down and provide the eventual division winner with a 'never forget who we are' moment at home, you should be crowned as the true champions of the AFC West. While Oakland convincingly won the last game of the season, the Raiders still came up short in ...
The Oakland Raiders offense improved drastically from 2009 to 2010, doubling its scoring output and re-establishing itself as one of the best running teams in the NFL. However, despite the improvements, the Raiders offense still has a long way to go before it becomes an elite offense capable of going deep into the playoffs.
That being said, I believe the Raiders are really only two players away from having one of the better offenses in the NFL. The Raiders still need to find an offensive lineman to shore up the right side of their line and a quarterback that can play ...
