The Raiders are facing a lot of big decisions this off season with free agents. Nobody really knows what is going to happen with the new CBA or when a new deal is going to be done. The league announced that starting Feb. 10th teams can start tagging their free agents. The Raiders have a lot of players they could use the franchise tag on.Nnamdi Asomugha, who is their biggest free agent, is the only player the Raiders cannot place the franchise tag on. That doesn't mean he will leave the Raiders, but it does mean he'll have the option to ...
Many say it takes three years to actually grade a draft class, but despite that they receive grades by experts and fans alike before they even step onto the field.Though it may be two years premature, here is my grade of the Oakland Raiders 2010 draft class.Begin Slideshow
After a busy off season, with Spring Training now just days away, the A's have invited some of the organization's top prospects to train with the team in Phoenix and gain some experience with the club they will one day help contend in the American League West.Increased roster depth makes it unlikely that any of these players will break camp with the A's major league team, but they will give A's fans a glance of the future.Begin Slideshow
The Oakland Raiders have definitely got something up there sleeve for the upcoming 2011 football season and it looks like success! The once proud and mighty Oakland Raiders are on their way to a superbowl win in 2011 and if you have been keeping up with current events, well its easy to see why.   Recently the Oakland Raiders released head coach Tom Cable in favor of new head coach Hue Jackson. Jackson is credited with helping the team gets its offense off the ground. The running attack has been magnificent with upcoming superstar RB Darren McFadden hitting the holes ...
First off, let me start off by saying this is my 100th article. I want to thank everyone in Raider Nation for reading my articles and giving me feedback. It seems like just yesterday that I joined Bleacher Report, and I've grown not just as a writer, but as a true lover of the game we call football. Raider fans are the best fans on the planet, and the best on Bleacher Report. Thanks, guys. Now, to some Raider football! So, I just found out that Shaun Rogers has been released by the Browns. My first thought? "It's about time." My second? ...
"Road trippin', road trippin', we're not happy unless we're road trippin'."The above should be the official anthem for any adventurous sports fanatic.Yeah, spectating at games locally is a delight, but there's a whole nation out there, filled with wildly entertaining and historically significant venues that dot the landscape from coast to coast and everywhere in-between.So, get out there and find them. But before departure, use the following as your guide. There are any number of great sports road trip destinations that await you, but we had to draw the line somewhere. For us, 100 seemed like a nice, ...
I'm always a nervous wreck before an Oakland Raiders game. It doesn't matter if they are1-4 or 4-1, if they're in the playoff hunt or eliminated by Week 12; I'm a mess no matter what. During the past seven years there has been something missing. Yes, victories, but something more than that. On October 24, 2010 that all began to change. I was taking a shower prior to a game that pitted the Raiders against their hated rival Denver Broncos. The Raiders' record was 2-4 at the time and they were coming off a terrible loss to the San Francisco 49ers; I ...
Commitment to excellence during offseason - Revisited Eleven men on a team at one time. Eleven men who supposedly have a commitment to excellence, according to the Al Davis motto for the Oakland Raiders. This motto stirs thinking. A player can not have a commitment to excellence without having a personal pursuit of excellence in his own performance. In other words, an Oakland Raider is not really competing with another player. He is competing with a standard of excellence for himself. The pursuit of excellence involves a process. A player attains a certain level of performance in one game. He then attempts to ...
Sunday's Super Bowl was a up and down but entertaining struggle to between the two best teams in the NFL. Some watched the game purely for entertainment value and as it was their last time to watch an NFL game for six months. I looked at the game for those same reasons but also looked to see just how close or far the Raiders are to being contenders. The Raiders really aren't as far off as this year's 8-8 record indicates but the areas that the Raiders are weak really kill them. Many mock draft and free agency articles have been written to ...
Teams have already started evaluating the talent on their rosters as we head into the 2011 offseason. Coaches have to find areas that were problematic, in an effort to improve through free agency, trade and the draft. While all teams love to build through the draft, many teams will grab hold of the opportunity to improve by adding a veteran onto their rosters. This offseason in particular, a number of talented players are likely to become available prior to the draft. The quarterback shuffle the NFL will likely see this offseason is bound to push would-be first round quarterbacks out of the ...
