According to reports, the Oakland Raiders have placed their franchise tag on linebacker Kamerion Wimbley.
The 27-year-old Wimbley was coming off one of the best seasons of his career.
He recorded 58 tackles(46 solo), and became more of a force rushing the quarterback, recording nine sacks.
Wimbley's rookie contract was set to void because he met the minimum playing time standards included in the deal.
So, Wimbley would have become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming free agency. Thus, the Raiders used their franchise tag, which is currently valued at $10.2 million.
Wimbley came over from the Browns in a trade last offseason for a ...
One of the NFL's premier cornerbacks is still available.Former Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is probably one of the most coveted free agents on the market, and for good reason; he is considered perhaps one of the three best corners in the NFL. His stats aren't gaudy, but that's because quarterbacks just don't throw his direction. In 2009, he was targeted only 28 times, compared to 111 that year for Darrelle Revis. The question now is where will Asomugha wind up?Trying to gauge that is complicated, considering last year was an uncapped year and that labor negotiations are still ongoing between players ...
With A's owner Lew Wolfe on record as saying he believes the 2011 A's team is better than the 2006 team which won the American League West, I decided to take a look at both teams and see how they compare against each other. With not a single at-bat this season, not even a Cactus League game yet this spring, it is hard to truly compare the current roster with the 93-win team from 2006. Just for the sake of comparison, we'll use the 2011 Bill James Projections from fangraphs.com to see how the two rosters stack up. What do ...
How would you define "leadership"? What are the qualities of a good leader in professional football? Do the Oakland Raiders have excellent leadership at this time? We truly believe so. Our hope is in the leadership ability and fire of Hue Jackson.
If, in fact, the Oakland Raiders have a very talented team, then is the leadership able to harness and utilize that talent to get more wins in 2011?
No one should be able to say in 2011 that Jason Campbell looks "shaky" during a game.
The question that I want to raise is does Campbell have the type of mentality that flourishes or ...
The NFL still hasn't reached a collective bargaining agreement, yet the Oakland Raiders have been active in resigning Richard Seymour. There are other Raiders that are in line to get new contracts as well, such as Nnamdi Asomugha, who is waiting to test the market. The CBA is still uncertain, so things can change at any given moment. But as of right now, there is some inside information on who will stay, who will go, who is coming, and who is not. The following is the direction the Raiders are looking to take with their personnel as of now. Turn the page to see ...
Kamerion Wimbley was perhaps one of the most underrated and least talked about additions to the Oakland Raiders this past season.
When the Raiders decided that their fast but undersized linebacking core was not playing well enough, they went out and traded for linebackers Kamerion Wimbley and Quentin Groves and drafted middle linebacker Rolando McClain. While McClain was the most talked about of this group, Wimbley was the player who made the biggest difference for the Raiders in 2010.
Wimbley was acquired from the Cleveland Browns for a third-round draft pick and in his first season with the Raiders showed what a steal that ...
Everybody knows two things about Dallas Braden. He threw a Perfect Game last year, and he is not intimidated by anyone. Bravado aside, the question remains whether or not he should be part of your fantasy team. A look at his career record of 25-35 would suggest not, but we know how wins can be a tricky measure to gauge a pitcher. A look at his ERA and WHIP, which has decreased every year since his rookie season (2007), makes him a little more attractive. Especially given the solid 3.50 ERA, which was good for 33rd in the league, and ...
I don't know about the rest of you, but I always get excited when it gets to be time for the draft.I'm always checking out all the mock drafts I can find to see who thinks who will go where and to what team. There are so many differences of opinions and this is just mine.I will list whom I think should be the pick, as well as a few other options.Let's get this show on the road, people...Begin Slideshow
Over the offseason, the A's addressed their lack of power in the lineup primarily by signing Hideki Matsui and trading for Josh Willingham. One returning Oakland player decided to take it upon himself to address his own lack of power during the offseason, however. With Spring Training now in full swing, one of the most pleasant surprises early on is the physical condition of returning first baseman Daric Barton.Barton, acquired by the A's in the December 2004 trade that also sent starting pitcher Dan Haren to Oakland in exchange for Mark Mulder, is entering his seventh season in the Athletics' organization. ...
With the beginning of Spring Training now a week gone, the focus shifts to opening day. What will the roster look like? How will the team avoid injuries during Spring Training? Who will be the opening day starter? And most importantly, how will the team do this season? All the other questions pale in comparison to the last one. How will the team perform? Will they be contenders or pretenders? The A's, as always will depend on their pitching, and while the fifth starter spot is probably going to take a while to determine, the first four are already a certainty. With that, let's ...
