A couple losing seasons, no problem. Traded my favorite player, okay I can deal with it. Placed tarps over the seats of the upper deck where I watch my favorite team, I'll buy the more expensive ticket. Raise the price of parking, now I'm a little annoyed, but it's still okay. Cheat me on the price of my beer? That's it, now you've gone too far! A pair of youtube videos have called attention to the beer vending practice of ARAMARK services. It appears that when you go to watch your favorite team play, and you decide you want that ...
Rhythmic Pep Talk - Listen   You may not understand the dynamic but sometimes victory is in the stars. Many of us believe that a series of events similar to those for the Green Bay Packers will happen for the Oakland Raiders. We have a “Yes, We Can Can” attitude. In an article in Sports Illustrated, the writer mentions the fact that there is a play on Broadway about the life of Vince Lombardi. There was also a documentary on his life in the airwaves. Now, the trophy has returned to the Green Bay Packers and to Wisconsin. A similar series of events is expected for the Oakland ...
The Oakland Raiders coaching staff will look very different in 2011. The transformation started last year when the Raiders brought in Hue Jackson to run the offense and Mike Waufle to coach the defensive line. Those moves paid off quickly, as the Raiders had one of the better offenses in the league and second-best rushing attack in the NFL. The defensive line was also one of the best in the league and led the league in sacks. When Tom Cable was let go, Jackson was promoted to head coach, and that's when everything changed for Oakland. That one move made ...
Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders have taken a major step towards continuing to build on the success of last season by re-signing Richard Seymour. Seymour, 31, had a very good year for the Raiders in 2010, compiling 5.5 sacks, earning a trip to the Pro Bowl and solidifying a Raiders defensive line that had been one of the team's biggest weakness in previous years. Add to Seymour's big year the fact that the Raiders are giving up their first-round pick this year, No. 17, to the Patriots for Seymour, and it becomes even more important that the Raiders re-signed the clear ...
If 2010 taught us anything it is that the old saying "pitching wins championships" is no lie. The 2010 Texas Rangers were able to ride the fourth best pitching staff in the American League, backed by the fourth best offense, all the way to the World Series. Fortunately for A’s fans, the Rangers lost their top pitcher when Cliff Lee spurned their offseason overtures and instead signed with the Philadelphia Phillies. The Rangers have more problems entering this season with the loss of Vladimir Guerrero's bat in their lineup, and the impending departure of Michael Young when the Rangers find ...
In 2010 the Oakland Raiders had a great draft. All nine of the players the Raiders drafted made the team and throughout the season, four of them would make it into the starting lineup. In 2011 the Raiders hope to repeat that success.Currently the Raiders biggest needs in the draft are the offensive line and  wide receiver, but they could use depth at nearly every position. Here's a look at the direction I think the Oakland Raiders should go in the 2011 NFL draft.Begin Slideshow
A Pep Talk for 2011 The Sound of the Oakland Raiders: Listen and Read Everything has a sound, sometimes audible, sometimes not so easily heard. "Autumn Wind" has been the song of the Oakland Raiders for many years. John Facenda was one of the best at reciting the sound and song of the Raiders. His voice, tone and inflections were so suitable for communicating the fearlessness, strength and determination of the team. The spirit of the Raider Nation is stirred when the symphonic rendition of "Autumn Wind" is played. The sound and song rally the players to victory. The lyrics contain these words: "song" "growl" "shake" (a sound of ...
Out of all the recent off-seasons, the 2011 off-season may be the most important for the Oakland Raiders. The past seven seasons had been dreadful before the promise that 2010 brought fans. To see our team stay competitive in the majority of our contests and be in the playoff hunt right down to the end was quite a joy. Though the Raiders did not end their season with their ultimate goal in mind, a playoff berth, they showed that they could easily conquer their respective division and be a playoff contender. The Oakland Raiders 2010 season can be summed up in one ...
For the last seven years going into the 2010 season, the Oakland Raiders were known as the most dysfunctional franchise in the league. Raider Nation was known as the place for a washed-up player to go and collect one final paycheck. Former Raider defensive tackle Warren Sapp said, "There's some stuff goin' on over there that shouldn't happen."Former Raider defensive back DeAngelo Hall has spoken of why top free agents shouldn't get sucked into the Black Hole. The Randy Moss debacle sure isn't a case for the Raiders, as he became a Hall of Fame receiver once again after leaving ...
Al Davis is a living legend, an icon of both the NFL and California who has influenced the growth of the game of football as a coach, personnel man, and general manager before taking all those hats and more and moving into the owner's box. Al Davis has stood up for the little guy, himself, his team, his city and his beliefs. He's sued the NFL; he's been sued by the NFL. In short, he is not one to shy away from controversy or tough negotiations, and he's certainly not one to give in. The Raiders owner remains one of the most ...
