It's tough to argue against the fact that the Raiders are certainly the most colorful of all football teams. Despite wearing silver and black, the menagerie of characters to be associated with Raiders is one to be honored, or at least admired, okay it's just entertaining. From the Raiders inception in 1960 to their rise from mediocrity in 2010, the team has collected its number of unique personalities.I'll give you a hint, both Al Davis and John Madden will make this list, where you ask? Lets take a look.Begin Slideshow
Last season the legendary Oakland Raiders stepped their game up a notch and worked towards their former greatness as they took the AFC West with a perfect 6-0 record. The Oakland Raiders at the same time put historical numbers in their record books when they defeated the Denver Broncos in Denver with a 59-14 win. So what was the recipe for the Oakland Raider success playing their rivals last season? Some of the recipe may have been the faith that former head coach Tom Cable had for the team. The players seemed to play hard for Tom and they looked good.Or ...
The NFL lockout is the talk of the nation and the 2011 season is in question. The Oakland Raiders made big strides in 2010 and are looking to make a playoff run next season.
The 2011 season will be crucial for Oakland and the members of the Raider Nation. Hopes and expectations are high after finishing 6-0 in the AFC West. Is it possible that the NFL lockout could hurt a young Raiders team that is trying to turn things around?
A new head coach will walk the sidelines once again for the Raiders. The lockout could cut his offseason program short ...
Let's just say that the Oakland Raiders data is discussed with colleagues no matter where we may be. In Washington, DC the fact that I am a Raiders' fan came up in a meeting. One reason my love for the Oakland Raiders came up is because I post most of my articles on my Facebook page. My study of the data, personalities and vision for the Oakland Raiders to return to a prominent position in the NFL is shared with other professors in the STEM professions. In fact, I am encouraging more of the professors and students to delve into the ...
After a failed attempt at a career as a professional baseball player, Billy Beane decided to try his hand in the front office. In 1998, he became the General Manager of the Oakland Athletics. Over the past 13 years, Billy has broken the hearts of the Oakland faithful numerous times by trading away some of the A's best talent for players who are relatively unknown. More times than not, the players traded away become unheard of and the new players become stars. Sometimes, Billy's strategies backfire and Oakland is left with a bunch of worthless prospects while another team is reaping the benefits of ...
The Oakland Raiders have scheduled a private workout with Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
A Turlock native, Kaepernick grew up in a small town in the valley of California. Colin described himself as a "late bloomer."
Kaepernick only received one scholarship offer, and hastily accepted.
Now the 6'4", 230-pound quarterback is quickly rising up draft boards and went from a late third-round pick to an early second-round selection. He's described as a player with smarts and athletic ability to go along with a big-time arm.
Clearly, he's an Al Davis player; a typical Oakland Raider quarterback.
To tell you the truth, though, I'm pretty stumped as ...
As the 2011 NFL Draft nears, many teams are taking a second look at players who spark their interest.Every year there are countless players overlooked by most teams, who then flourish into "NFL Draft Gems."The Oakland Raiders have scheduled workouts with two players who have that kind of potential and I'll explain why.Begin Slideshow
In Major League Baseball, there are some teams with brilliant logo designs and bright, flashy jerseys. Those are the teams I love to watch play everyday. The teams I can't stand are the ones with dull, boring colors and an unoriginal logos. I've selected my top 5 and my bottom 5 of each category.Begin Slideshow
The Oakland Athletics' starting pitching continues to impress; the defense and bullpen continue to underwhelm.
After the weekend series in which the A's blew two potential wins against the Mariners, they managed to cough up another game tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Brandon McCarthy was very impressive in his Athletics debut. McCarthy's line is deceiving; he pitched eight innings, giving up eight hits, one walk and five runs (four earned runs).
Prior to a changed scoring decision, McCarthy had only been charged with two earned runs. McCarthy's ERA jumped from a stellar 2.25 to 4.50 with the decision. He should have walked ...
I told you so. Well, I am certain you don't want to hear that common phrase used by sisters, brothers, friends and so on. It seems to me the rate of the young Oakland Raiders getting in the news for unusual incidents is too great.
Already one of the Oakland Raiders was stopped and a concealed weapon was found somewhere in his car.
Another had a little trouble, but the loud music (like I hear at the stop sign near my home late a night) and the unlabeled pills are just outright crazy.
The young Oakland Raiders are a bit careless this offseason during ...
