Well, the NFL officially put the cart before the horse and released the schedule for the upcoming (?) 2011 season last evening.Apparently undaunted by the fact that there is no labour agreement in place; no reasonable expectation of an agreement anytime soon; or that players would be tased and arrested if they went to their team facility right now, the ever innovative and forward-thinking NFL forged boldly ahead with a schedule for the 2011 season.I guess they figure if everything works out, they'd better be prepared. Fair enough. There are some interesting schedules out there, some of them unfortunate. The poor ...
Through the team’s first 17 games, the Oakland Athletics lead the majors in ERA, and it’s not even close. The A’s team ERA currently sits at 2.44, while the major’s second-lowest ERA (Angels) is 3.01. Brett Anderson and Trevor Cahill have been big contributors to the team’s stellar ERA thus far. From a fantasy standpoint, however, one can’t help but wonder: Who is better—Anderson or Cahill? Anderson turned 23 on Feb. 1 this year. Cahill did the same a month later. Both were drafted in the second round of the 2006 draft—Anderson by the Diamondbacks, Cahill by the Athletics (Anderson was later ...
The A's are off to a decent start to the 2011 season, going 9-8 in their first 17 games. They currently lead baseball in ERA and are fourth in pitching WAR because of the strong performances of the starting rotation, led by Brett Anderson and Trevor Cahill. Anderson has gotten off to a great start this season, pitching to a 1.63 ERA (2.57 xFIP) with a 6.83 K/9 and a 0.98 BB/9 rate. He has only allowed 26 hits (zero home runs) in his 27.1 innings pitched this season.  Anderson is not throwing as hard as he did in 2009-2010, averaging 90.6 mph in ...
The Oakland Raiders 2011 schedule is on the website, www.raiders.com. There are four preseason games, but most of us are focused on the first game of the regular season, when the Raiders jump on and ride the backs of the Broncos. The Oakland Raiders have an overall average of .549. This exceeds the win-loss record of the Denver Broncos. It is an indicator that the Raiders are stronger than the Broncos, in my opinion. We are expecting the Oakland Raiders to start strong. Do you remember that victory over the Broncos in 2010. It shook the world. Since the Oakland Raiders have an upward ...
The NFL gave hope to fans everywhere on Tuesday when they announced the complete schedule for the 2011 season like they expect there to be one.  Hopefully, all this bickering will end and the Autumn Wind will blow once again.  Without further ado, here it is, the complete Oakland Raiders 2011 Schedule Mon., Sept. 12  7:15 P.M. at Denver Broncos  ESPN  Sun., Sept. 18 10:00 A.M. at Buffalo Bills  CBS  Sun., Sept. 25 1:05 P.M. at New York Jets  CBS Sun., Oct. 2 1:15 P.M. New England Patriots  CBS Sun., Oct. 9  10:00 A.M.  at Houston Texans  CBS Sun., Oct. 16 ...
My first thoughts on the Oakland Raiders' 2011 schedule are that Weeks 3 and 4 will tell us a lot about this year's team. Week 3 is a home game on Sept. 25 against the Jets, and Week 4 is another home game on Oct. 2 against the Patriots. What these two games will tell us is whether or not the Raiders are ready to compete with the big dogs. The past few seasons, the Raiders have had horrible games against the NFL’s elite teams. Last year's game against the Steelers is a prime example. The Raiders were shellacked in that game, 35-3. And you ...
The 2011 NFL schedule has been released, and the Oakland Raiders' road to the Super Bowl starts in Denver. The Raiders will battle their usual divisional foes but will also be playing the tough NFC North and the AFC East, as well as the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns.Let's take a look at the Raiders' top 10 games of the season to watch for in 2011.Begin Slideshow
Raider Nation, rejoice! The NFL has announced the 2011 schedule, and the Oakland Raiders are set to kick off their season on Monday Night Football for the third consecutive year. The Silver and Black will travel to Denver to play the hated Broncos at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12 in a Week 1 AFC West battle.   If 2010 is any indication, the matchup with the Broncos should give the Raiders an excellent chance to open the season with a win for the first time since 2002.   Last year, the Silver and Black Attack dominated the Broncos, outscoring their hapless division rivals ...
I know, Raider Nation, I know. This topic has been so abused and outplayed it's ridiculous. Almost like beating a dead horse, right? Still, I think the fact that JaMarcus Russell's life coach (the one person in his life who was supposed to provide some stability) has quit on Russell must be addressed by a Raider fan. That's right, folks. John Lucas, former NBA star and alcohol addict, has quit on Russell. Just in case you don't know, once the former first overall pick was cut by the Oakland Raiders (more on that later), Lucas decided to work with the quarterback and try to ...
Until the Texas Rangers went on their run last season, defeating the New York Yankees and making it to the World Series, most people around baseball viewed the American League West as the weakest division in the American League. So far this season, the AL West has proved to be one of the toughest divisions, with three teams, the Rangers, Angels, and A’s, that could easily compete for the division title and a wild card bid. The Rangers this season have showed last season’s run was not a fluke, starting out the season by sweeping the Boston ...
