After the lockout ended, Raider fans felt it was a matter of time before a few things happened:1) We'd lose Nnamdi Asomugha and Michael Huff in free agency.2) We'd re-sign Michael Bush and Zach Miller.3) We would add a veteran or two to both the offensive line and the wide receiver corps.Well, much like many things that transpired around the NFL after the lockout ended, some of the speculation was correct, and some was quite far off.We did lose Nnamdi, but surprisingly we re-signed Michael Huff to a hefty contract. We did re-sign Michael Bush. But in what I consider to ...
Former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu could be on his way to signing with the Oakland Raiders. NFL reporter Jason La Canfora reported Wednesday that the Raiders, along with the Bears and Redkins, were possibilities for Tatupu. The linebacker had visited the Raiders on August 1, according to Adam Schefter. Tatupu, who has played the last six seasons with the Seahawks, is coming off one of his worst seasons as a professional in 2010 and is currently a free agent waiting for a destination. The undersized linebacker recorded just 88 tackles and one sack in 16 regular season appearances in ...

The Oakland Raiders will take on the visiting Arizona Cardinals tonight in the 2011 preseason opener. Both teams are in search of some confidence as neither team was in the playoffs in 2010. The Cardinals now have the highly touted Kevin Kolb to throw the ball to All-World receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Tight end Todd Heap is also in the mix along with running back Beanie Wells to carry the backfield load. To get the confidence the Cardinals are looking for, they simply need to develop timing and execution. For the Raiders to get their confidence, they need to find out who of the youngsters ...
So far, the Raiders have had a pretty good offseason. Yes, despite losing Nnamdi Asomugha and Zach Miller, it has been a pretty good offseason. The Raiders have a sub .500 record with Asomugha and Miller so there is no reason for me to believe that these two guys made the Raiders. The Raiders did keep most of their core and managed to find solid replacements for the players they lost. Then you have to look at all the youngsters the Raiders drafted to come into Raider Nation and excel. The Raiders didn't even have a first-round selection so it's not ...
Perhaps more so than any other team in the league, the 2011 season will be an important one for the Oakland Raiders. The team will have to roll with the punches, as this was a tough offseason for them having lost their most recognizable player in Nnamdi Asomugha to the Philadelphia Eagles on the NFL's version of national signing day.The team went 6-0 in the AFC West in 2010, so it isn't a stretch to say they should win the division outright in 2011. Without further adieu, here are my five boldest predictions for the 2011 season. Begin Slideshow
It’s no secret that Al Davis is the most senile owner in professional sports. His refusal to hire a GM and hand over the reins has resulted in one of the most miserable decades for a franchise in NFL history. Last season, behind Tom Cable’s leadership, the Raiders were able to sweep the division and finish 8-8: their first non-losing since losing the Super Bowl in 2002. So things are looking up, right? Not exactly. Despite Cable’s ability to, “just win” (well, sort of…) not only football games, but the allegiance of this players, Davis insisted on firing him after the ...
Several factors contribute to make a good football team great. It's one thing to have a group of great players, but it's another thing when you can get all of the components of your team to work together well. This is often referred to as "chemistry." Defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan could be the piece that the Raiders coaching staff needs to help the Raiders improve their chemistry and rank amongst the NFL elite. Bresnahan has coached for the Browns, Colts, Raiders and is the former defensive coordinator for Bengals. During his three year tenure in Cincinnati, Bresnahan never was able to ...
It was short and to the point. Jason Campbell shared his perspective on a video saying how important it is for the fans of the Oakland Raiders to show up at the games in the Oakland Coliseum. The Raider Nation has got to show up! He emphasized the importance of "fans in the stands." Tomorrow (Aug. 11) will be a great day for many of us who have been bubbling with excitement about the return of the football season as the Raiders take on the Arizona Cardinals. Since Campbell is encouraging us to show up, it suggests that he personally draws ...
The Arizona Cardinals are undergoing some major renovations on the offensive side of the ball. They got rid of QB Derek Anderson and RB Tim Hightower. Now, the offense will be run through former Eagles QB Kevin Kolb, who should make things easier on star WR Larry Fitzgerald.Meanwhile, the Oakland Raiders are gearing up to improve on last year's 8-8 season. They have a lot of key players returning, and QB Jason Campbell looks ready to start the season strong. So, let's take a look at how these teams will fare when they play each other in a preseason game on Thursday night.Read more ...
