The Oakland Raiders face a critical junction in their young season. The result of their next three games will largely influence the team moving forward. This Sunday they will have the support of the entire Nation of Raider fans when they take on the Jets at the O.co Coliseum in Oakland. It would go a long way to healing the wounds of a painful loss to Buffalo if the Raiders can hand the Jets their first defeat of the season. After this weekend the Raiders will face the Patriots and Texans. These three games will define their early season and show all ...
When Kevin Boss took over for All-Pro Jeremy Shockey in New York, Boss proved his worth.Against the New England Patriots, Kevin Boss had crucial catches to allow the Giants to spoil the Patriots' perfect season; now that same man in suiting up in Silver and Black, ready to have another impact. The lost of Zach Miller hurt. Miller was Oakland's top receiver, and it looked as if another rough season for the Raiders was on the horizon—but in a surprising move, Kevin Boss was released due to the salary cap in New York and found his home in Oakland, a place ...
It might not have been "easy as pie". For the Jets, instead, it seemed easy as a "hot dog". One week after their surprise win over Philadelphia as a 14 point underdog, the Raiders, having scored a total of two touchdowns in their prior four games, played host to the Mark Sanchez and the Jets in October of 2009. There would be no upset this time. At least not in the game. The only thing upset during the Jets' 38-0 pounding of the Raiders might have been Mark Sanchez's stomach. With the Jets up 24-0 at halftime and cruising to an ...
A step behind.  After rewatching the Raiders game yesterday I came away with the sad realization that Rolando McClain was always a step behind. I watched this early in his career, and thought it was just a rookie thing, that he would start to dominate soon.   Especially after a few body slams got us all excited. Unfortunately, the occasional body slam is not what silver and black defense needs.  They need their big, strong, smart first-round middle linebacker to make plays.  They need him to lead this defense when they are leading by four points, on the road, with a ...
On Sunday, the Oakland Raiders will play their home opener in front of a sellout crowd at the O.co Coliseum. They face a familiar foe: the New York Jets. Oakland has not faced the Jets since their 38-0 loss in 2009, a game made famous because of then rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez's decision to devour a hot dog on the sidelines during the rout.Their rivalry dates back to the days of the AFL, but was rekindled in the early 2000s when the Raiders bounced the Jets from the playoffs in two consecutive years. Since then, save for a win against ...
The Oakland Raiders are preparing to face the most difficult three-game stretch of their season. The frustration that lingers from their tough loss at Buffalo must be harnessed and delivered to the Jets with ferocity. After the Jets, the Raiders will face the Patriots and the Texans. It's painful that they enter this three-game stretch at 1-1 instead of 2-0. They had no business dropping last week's game to the Bills.   The Raider defense needs to recover rapidly from the beating it took against Buffalo. No roster moves have been made to improve the struggling secondary. It would be tough to ...
The Oakland Raiders come home to face the New York Jets after splitting two road games to start the season. The Jets are 2-0, thanks to a Dallas implosion and a route of the Jacksonville Jaguars, both at home. If things go as I expect on Sunday, the Jets will struggle, particularly quarterback Mark Sanchez. Sanchez was okay in the opener against Dallas, but he threw two interceptions against a less-than-stellar Jaguars defense. If it weren't for Luke McCown, Sanchez's mistakes would have been amplified. McCown's four interceptions bailed Sanchez out and made for an easy win for the Jets. The ...
Well, that one hurt. I know I'm a little late to the party, but the loss from last week stings no less.We had it. We lost it. Gave it away, really. It wasn't pretty on defense, but the offense was lights out. I say the defense got tired after the brutal scheduling, and it was obvious. No excuse; just an explanation. Still, you have to be able to stop a team even once, and the Raiders couldn't do that. After the first half of the Bills game, it looked like the Raiders would waltz into this game unfettered, with the East ...
"New York, New York, big city of dreams, everything in New York ain't always what it seems." When it comes to the New York Jets, that's the old Snoop Dogg and Dog Pound song that I think of.They are a good team, but you'd think they just won their fourth Super Bowl in a row with all the hype they get. Then you have the Oakland Raiders, who just got put back on the flea list after losing a close one in Buffalo.Everyone sees a blowout in the making here, but I don't see that being the case at all. ...
It appears as if though rookie RB Taiwan Jones will get more opportunities to handle the ball this Sunday against the Jets. He was the primary kick returner at practice on Thursday, and he is likely to replace Nick Miller as the primary kick returner. Miller has struggled thus far and doesn't seem to have the explosiveness to help out in the return game.  Taiwan Jones, or Juice, has everything you need to be a dangerous return man. He is lightning fast. He can change direction on a dime. He can stop and take off running at full speed.  His ...
