After that incredibly emotional victory against the Houston Texans, the Raiders get to come home for three straight games at O.Co Coliseum. This is the time when the Raiders will determine if they are a playoff team or not. At 3-2, they have an opportunity to beat a trio of subpar opponents (combined 5-9 record) and go to 6-2, which would be their best start in a decade—even better than their 2002 Super Bowl year, when they were 4-4 at the halfway point of the season. The Browns are not an awful team, but they are definitely beatable. A playoff ...
Oh yeah, it's been hard this week with the loss of Mr. Al Davis. One thing we remember is that Al Davis hired this 2011 team to play ball and to play hard.Davis was a veteran and former coach in the military. He was a risk-taker who made bold decisions.I personally love the vertical game he inspired in the NFL. Those "bombs" kept us on the edge of our seats, and they kept us yelling, emoting and hoping for a catch and a touchdown. So many times, though the probability seemed low, the Oakland Raiders would win games in the last ...
Coco Crisp has been about as controversial a player as the Oakland Athletics could have in 2011.While he has been fairly steady offensively, he has been hurt for significant amounts of time during his stay in Oakland, having only played in 211 games in his two seasons there. For now, his stay in Oakland is up.  The only question left is whether or not the A's will try to re-sign him. Here's why they should.Begin Slideshow
The Cleveland Browns will be entering what is sure to be one of the most inspirational, motivational, somber and memorable moments in NFL history as they head over to Oakland to square off with the Raiders this weekend.Last weekend, Raiders long-time owner and NFL legend Al Davis unfortunately and unexpectedly passed away. His death was met by an outpouring of love for Raiders organization, fans and players. The Raiders then went on to an emotional win on the road at Houston. This is the first time the Raiders will be playing at home since Davis' passing, and the atmosphere is sure to be incredible. The ...
In the wake of the loss of one of the most influential owners in the NFL, the Raiders franchise looks to find a GM to step in and lead the Raiders through this difficult time of transition. Nobody could replace a man like Al Davis, but let's take a look at some likely candidates the Raiders are rumored to be in pursuit of.There are a couple of things that are certain. First and foremost, Hue Jackson will be instrumental in the selection process. The GM will have to be someone he trusts and someone who has a similar vision for ...
We admit that the game between the Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns may be spiced with emotions, although the Oakland Raiders must stay level-headed to do their job well.During the game scheduled for Oct. 16, the Raiders will play their first home game since the death of Mr. Al Davis. A moment of silence and a half-time ceremony will be done in Davis' honor, according to an interview with CEO Amy Trask. The interview can be heard at www.raiders.com.Comparing the quarterbacks for the Raiders and the Browns yielded some interesting information. Their data is not too far apart. In ...
The 2-2 Cleveland Browns will be going to Oakland to play against the 3-2 Raiders on Sunday. It's a bigger game than many because the Raiders can't just win, baby—they have to win this game big.The Browns are 2-2 but they are inches away from the NFL's flea list—beating only two winless teams. (Colts and Dolphins.) The were beaten solidly by the Cincinnati Bengals, 27-17, and blown out by the Tennessee Titans, 31-13.So in my opinion, the Raiders have to blow them out.Turn the page to see how they need to it.Begin Slideshow
Al Davis has done it again!I know he's no longer with us but the acquisition of former first-round pick Aaron Curry reeks of Davis—the deal had to be in progress before he died. Davis loved first-round picks that didn't work out with their original team—especially when they are physical freaks.Curry is a physical freak and now makes the Raiders defensive personnel even more 3-4 friendly. Defensive ends Matt Shaughnessy and Jarvis Moss are the Raiders only true 4-3 defensive lineman but they are injured.Shaughnessy doesn't appear to be coming back any time soon and Moss is a situational pass rusher even if he is playing by now. So I can't help but ...
Speaking as a fan of ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) Football, I thought Aaron Curry from Wake Forrest was a nightmare.A complete nightmare.Scouts claimed that Curry had all the physical tools needed to be the next great linebacker in the NFL, but two years in Seattle has shown a different product.Aaron Curry is labeled a bust by many, his stats in Seattle is anything but eye-catching from a man that many say "has so much potential but not enough instinct."Is that truly the case?Curry made a name for himself stopping the run, which can be attributed to playing in the ACC (which has not ...
I have to admit, I am not that old of a football fan.  I wasn’t around when Al Davis, former owner of the Oakland Raiders, helped start the American Football League but I have seen the stories, read the books and watched everything about Davis that I possibly could.  Anyone who is a football fan should know what Al Davis did for the game.  To start, he began his career in football as a coach.  Eventually, he worked his way into the NFL as a coach (of the then Los Angeles and now San Diego Chargers).  He ended up being ...
