Guess what, Raider Nation?Jason Campbell is throwing the ball around a little bit and looking to get back on the field. After going 4-2 as the Raiders' starting quarterback to start the season, he has quite a bit of fanfare. Despite his limitations, (throwing the deep ball) I hear the better portion of Raider Nation clamoring for Campbell. However, I don't see the need for such a change or believe head coach Hue Jackson will make it.   Turn the page to see why. Begin Slideshow
In a game that the Oakland Raiders had to win, the team fell completely flat—utterly embarrassed by a Miami Dolphins team that had three wins entering Sunday’s contest in South Florida. In a game the Raiders needed to win, the leaders of the AFC West looked more like the bleeders of the West, as they left Miami hemorrhaging and looking anemic. It was a must-win game because the red-hot Denver Broncos cannot be stopped, having won their fifth game in a row in another heart-racing fashion. Oakland (7-5) is now tied with Denver atop the division, but you could not ...
What seems impossible to some, is possible to others. Sometimes the outcome of a matter depends more on the spirit of a team than on the physical capabilities. In history there are accounts of battles in which one opponent seems ill-equipped and not strong enough to defeat an obviously strong, tall and bold opponent. If the battle is fought in the name of something greater than the team, then it is possible for the team to muster up the strength to overcome the opponent. David was small and he only had a simple weapon, but because of the spirit behind him and ...
Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden continues to struggle with a nagging foot injury, which caused him to miss his fifth straight game on Sunday. With the Raiders caught up in a tight playoff race and preparing for a marquee game against the Green Bay Packers, they could really use the dynamic RB back. Keep checking back to this page throughout the week for the latest updates on McFadden's availability and potential fantasy value.Update: Friday, Dec. 9 at 1:31 p.m. ET by Kyle VassaloSteve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times says McFadden was not at practice today, and that his absence ...
Reflecting on the Raiders disastrous 34-14 loss Sunday in Miami, I couldn't help but think of a song made famous by Bruce Springsteen. In the chorus, he sings, "...same old story same old act, it's one step up and two steps back." Perfect.Through grit and determination, the Raiders won a huge game last week against a Bears team that was on a major winning streak . It was a gutsy win. Chicago was missing Jay Cutler, but the Raiders were without most of their key offensive players, such as feature back Darren McFadden. Still, they went head-to-head with Chicago's tough ...
Jingo bells, Batman smells, Raiders lay an egg.......Alright, alright....The Oakland Raiders fell to 7-5 and are now in a first-place tie with the Tim Tebow-led Denver Broncos. They did so in embarrassing fashion, losing 34-14 to the now 4-8 but recently resurgent Miami Dolphins. In a loss like this, many like to say, "It's just one game that the Raiders didn't play well in." To me, that may be the case in some ways, but seeing this game gave me major causes for concern going forward for the Raiders. Some of them are the same old problems and some of them I ...
The Oakland Raiders managed to go from being in first place in the AFC West, to looking like a non-playoff team in one fell swoop, with a humiliating 34-14 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.A Raiders loss and a Denver Broncos win at Minnesota has dropped them into a tie for the division, and ended up placing them on the outside looking in as far as the playoffs are concerned at this point in the season. The Broncos and Raiders are tied for first place, however, the Broncos hold the tie-breaker at this point.  A better winning percentage in the AFC West gives the ...
After the Raiders’ embarrassing 34-14 loss in Miami, Raiders fans everywhere are asking themselves: Does Oakland have a playoff caliber defense? Read more Oakland Raiders news on BleacherReport.com
It’s easy to blame the 34-14 debacle in Miami on the distraction caused by Rolando McClain’s legal troubles, but that would be a cop out. The Raiders were dominated in nearly every phase of the game by a Miami team I knew couldn’t be overlooked, and neither the offense nor the defense looked very good. This loss is a tough one to swallow, because it puts the Raiders’ playoff hopes in jeopardy. For the last several years, the magic number to get into the postseason has been 10—if you manage to go 10-6, you almost always make the playoffs. Getting ...
The Oakland Raiders may choke away their AFC West lead, but it won't be because of Richard Seymour's ejection on Sunday.Seymour made a stupid decision in the third quarter by "punching" Dolphins guard Richie Incognito.Seymour and Incognito were trash talking throughout the game and eventually Seymour snapped. It wasn't a particularly vicious move, but a dumb one nonetheless. The referees called it a punch, but it was more of a weak slap/shove type of thing. Still, it was a stupid move that was made out of frustration, as the Raiders were getting spanked at the time.Seymour's reputation likely played ...
