The marriage of Carson Palmer and Hue Jackson has not lit the NFL on fire like some Raider fans had hoped it would. His 13 interceptions since becoming a Raider have been costly and are certainly a huge factor in the Raiders' devolution from AFC juggernaut to playoff bubble team. Fans have every right to be skeptical about the cache of picks that were given up to get Palmer and whether or not he will prove worthy of the ransom used to get him.Even though it hurts and even though it seems like a sure playoff berth may be slipping away ...
Darren McFadden will likely miss the remainder of the 211 NFL season with a foot injury he sustained earlier this season. The team has called it a strained foot, but reports are that he had the much more serious Lisfranc injury. That looks to be the case now. Sources inside the Oakland Raiders organization have told the NFL network that they would be skeptical that McFadden would be well enough to return if the team made it to the playoffs. This is terrible news for a running back that has faced injuries throughout his career and looked to be finally running at ...
While most of the country will be focused on the Tim Tebow-Tom Brady matchup this week in the 4:00 P.M. time-slot, a game that is essentially an inter-conference playoff game will take place in Oakland. The Oakland Raiders will host the Detroit Lions in a game critical to the playoff chances of both teams. The loser is likely to miss the postseason. Detroit Lions Building upon a four-game winning streak to end last season, the Detroit Lions started hot in 2011 by opening with a 5-0 record. They had big comebacks against Minnesota and Dallas, and showed the nation they were for real by beating ...
Each and every week, the NFL features several upsets.Week 15 will be no different as there are several underdogs that can pull off an upset. The regular season is winding down, and teams are jockeying for a playoff spot and going all out on the field in an attempt to make the playoffs. Last week, I selected four underdogs and three out of the four teams covered against the spread with two of the underdogs winning outright on the field. This week, there are four favorites that are on upset alert and could easily lose in week 15.Begin Slideshow
The Oakland Raiders have had a week to lick their wounds, after being humiliatingly smacked and whacked by the Green Bay Packers last Sunday. As a result, their two-game lead in the AFC West evaporated, and the Raiders now see the galloping Denver Broncos in front of them, alone in first place. What once was a highly confident and brash Oakland team is now only a confident and brash team. But they are fully aware of the bumpy road that remains ahead of them. And yet despite the painfully dejecting last two games, the Raiders must lift their heads up knowing ...
Sunday's game between the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders will be the biggest game the Raiders have been in since the 2003 Super Bowl. I find it ironic that the game is against a franchise that has been just as bad as they've been since that Super Bowl.To me, this is a colossal game for the Raiders for more reasons than one. There are so many things that are on the line for the team at this time.Turn the page to see what they are.Begin Slideshow
The Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders meet up in Week 15 of the 2011 NFL season in a game that is absolutely jam packed with playoff implications. The Lions come into this game at 8-5 and fresh off a last-second win over the Minnesota Vikings. They're currently in the driver's seat for the last playoff spot in the NFC, but the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys are right behind them. It's a simple equation for the Lions, all they need to do is continue to win and they're in.The Raiders, on the other-hand, are in the midst of a two-game slide and are a game ...
Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden was having breakout season and appeared finally to be living up to his billing as the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. He had racked up 614 yards and four touchdowns by the time he left Oakland's Week 7 blowout loss to the Chiefs with what was described as a "foot injury."Immediately following the Chiefs game, McFadden was using crutches and protective boot. Raiders coach Hue Jackson informed the media that x-rays on the right foot were negative, and the prognosis was that since the injury was a sprain, McFadden would rest ...
Wide receiver Denarius Moore, one of three key offensive players the Oakland Raiders have been missing the last few weeks, has returned to practice and is listed as questionable for this week's game against the Detroit Lions.Moore, wide receiver Jacoby Ford and running back Darren McFadden have all missed the last several weeks with various injuries, dealing a major blow to the Oakland offense at a crucial time in the season. Moore's return to practice, which head coach Hue Jackson called "limited," is critical for a Raiders receiving corps that has been decimated by injuries, limiting quarterback Carson Palmer's ability ...
Two teams battling for a playoff spot will square off on Sunday when the Detroit Lions travel West to take on the Oakland Raiders. The Lions (8-5) are fighting for a wild-card berth, but are in decent position to grab it, sitting a game ahead of their nearest followers. This would be their first playoff appearance since 1999.The Raiders (7-6) enter the contest losers of their last two, and are a game behind the surging Denver Broncos. This will be the first time that the two teams have met since 2007. That game was also in Oakland, and the Lions won 36-21. Where: ...
