While Darren McFadden has continued to struggle with injuries throughout the 2013 season, Oakland Raiders free-agent acquisition Rashad Jennings has stepped in quite nicely.
When McFadden's most recent injury knocked him out of the November 3rd loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and kept him out for the following three weeks, Jennings took a firm hold of the starting job.
In his five games as the feature back, he has carried the ball 90 times for 448 yards, giving him an average of just under five yards per carry.
Although this stretch has seen a number of disappointing losses for the Raiders as a team, including ...
For a guy who went into the 2013 season with just two career catches, Oakland wide receiver Andre Holmes sure played like a guy who's been around the block a few times. While the Raiders fell short in their Thanksgiving Day game with the Dallas Cowboys, Holmes gave a glimpse of the player he could be and might have also offered a solution to the team's search for a No. 1 receiver.
Holmes made a career-high seven receptions for 136 yards, many of them coming on acrobatic leaping or diving receptions that helped sustain drives and bailed out undrafted rookie quarterback ...
Apparently the Oakland Raiders were in a giving mood on Thanksgiving because they squandered a 21-7 lead in Dallas and lost to the Cowboys, 31-24. Jumping out to a lead in the first half and coming out flat in the second isn’t something new for the Raiders—it also isn’t the first time it has resulted in a loss.
Had the Raiders won last week at home, they would have been—at least for a week—in the hunt for the playoffs. The Raiders inexplicably didn’t use their timeouts at the end of that game and only had 10 seconds to try to get ...
Another blown lead. Another wasted opportunity to get back into the playoff race. The Oakland Raiders did plenty of good things, but they were far outweighed by the bad in a 31-24 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.
For the fourth time in the last five weeks, the Raiders came up on the short end, continuing a second-half slide that is beginning to mirror the team’s late collapse in 2012.
Once again, the breakdowns came across the board. An offense that started out so well went stagnant in the second half, continuing a troubling trend under rookie quarterback Matt McGloin. ...
The Oakland Raiders fell to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday afternoon, but perhaps the even more concerning news was the injury to Rashad Jennings, who left the game with a concussion.
Jennings was running the ball in the fourth quarter when he was inadvertently kneed in the head as he was being tackled. After being down on the field for quite some time, he got up and appeared very wobbly. Vic Tafur from the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Jennings sustained a concussion in the game.

Oakland Raiders running back Rashad Jennings continued to show up well for fantasy football owners in Week 13, putting up respectable totals against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. He's quickly become one of the most reliable big-time fantasy backs in the NFL, but his strong run will be tested thoroughly in the weeks to come.
Jennings scored 15 fantasy points on Thursday, rushing for 35 yards and two touchdowns and catching one pass for eight yards. His second touchdown came late in the second quarter, putting Oakland up 21-7, as noted by NFL on ESPN:
It was the third game in ...
Despite jumping out to an early 21-7 lead, the Oakland Raiders couldn't hold on to beat the Dallas Cowboys in this Thanksgiving Day battle.
Final Score: Oakland 24, Dallas 31
Game Analysis for the Oakland Raiders
Pass Offense: Rookie quarterback Matt McGloin was extremely effective in the first half, especially when throwing deep downfield.
While he had a few big plays after halftime, McGloin was not nearly as efficient and made a critical mistake by throwing an end-zone interception with the Raiders in prime position to tie the game.
McGloin finished the game 18-of-30 for 255 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
Run Offense: Oakland had a difficult ...
According to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com, the Oakland Raiders have their starting left tackle for the first time this season and running back Darren McFadden will play on Thursday too. Now all they need to do is win on Thanksgiving Day—something they haven’t done since 1968.
Oakland has lost three straight and is on the brink of elimination from playoff contention. The Raiders will most likely need to win out to leapfrog five of the teams ahead of them.
Even then, it might not be enough.
Playing in Dallas in Week 13 offers Dennis Allen’s team a legitimate chance to stop the slide and ...
Ideally, the team would sign a superstar free agent. Or trade for one.
The A's don't typically make major splashes via trades, unless of course it's shipping their own starters away for prospects two or three years away from the majors. Though trades for big-ticket players have happened (see Holliday, Matt). And that's exactly what they need to do in order to take the next step. The St. Louis Cardinals made upgrades; so did the Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers.
Near-contenders are upgrading weaknesses. The A's must do the same—at these positions.

For four games Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor looked like the future at the position for the team. With his stupefying athleticism and improved passing, Pryor gave the Raider Nation some hope for the season and the future.
Unfortunately, Pryor’s development hit a brick wall against the Chiefs in Kansas City. Pryor was sacked a whopping 10 times and hasn’t seemed the same since. After three more poor passing performances, an injured knee forced Pryor to the bench in favor of undrafted rookie Matt McGloin.
McGloin will make his third start for the Raiders on Thanksgiving, but is the team making the ...
