It's the Christmas season for normal people, but baseball fans get more excited this time of year for the winter meetings. We put our general manager hats on, pretend we're Billy Beane and make a wish.
Of course, you have to distinguish between what Beane should, could and will do.
It seems obvious at this point Beane will do whatever he wants and could probably do anything; the man is that crafty.
But hey, let's put that Santa, er, Beane hat on and create a wish list for the Oakland A's GM.
Here are a few trades Beane should pitch at the winter meetings to keep the team competitive for ...
The Oakland Raiders will attempt to move on from a week to forget. After a blowout loss to the St. Louis Rams, the Silver and Black prepare for a battle with another Bay Area franchise, the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers have fallen short of expectations, but the Raiders are still facing a tough defense. The availability of Latavius Murray will contribute to the Raiders’ offensive success.
Colin Kaepernick has seemingly been less effective with more weapons around him, but he’s still getting the ball to reliable weapons to keep San Francisco competitive.
The Raiders must force Kaepernick to find unfamiliar weapons on ...
The Oakland Athletics are looking to deal slugger Brandon Moss as part of their rebuilding effort, and the outfielder has reportedly been traded to the Cleveland Indians.

A's and Indians Reach Deal for Moss
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported that a deal between the A's and Indians is done:
On Dec. 4, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported who the A's were targeting:
The A’s are in discussions that could net them a minor-league infielder from the Indians in exchange for outfielder Brandon Moss. Among the A’s targets, according to big league sources, is Double-A second baseman Joe Wendle, a strong ...
Say what you want about the Oakland Raiders, but over the last half-dozen seasons they have been known to bite some people in the rear end when least expected. Over that span, the Raiders have been home dogs of a touchdown or more 11 times, and they've won five of those games outright. Oakland is a big home dog again this week for Sunday's game at the Coliseum with the Bay Area-rival 49ers.
Point spread: The 49ers opened as seven-point favorites. The total was 41 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. (Line updates and matchup report.)

Despite the Oakland Raiders' 1-11 record, there is hope for the future in rookie quarterback Derek Carr. At least that’s the familiar narrative, but it glosses over several key facts.
The truth is that Carr has a lot of work to do before the Raiders should commit to him as the starter next year. Carr is directing the league’s worst offense and not doing much on his own to help it. Sticking with Carr requires a leap of faith that is both necessary and scary at the same time.
It has become apparent that Carr’s development may not be going quite as ...
The Oakland Raiders are in search of a head coach. Jim Harbaugh, head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, is right across the Bay and could be a top choice for the Raiders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Will they pursue Harbaugh?
Watch as Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area and Bleacher Report's Adam Lefkoe discuss the possibility of a Harbaugh-to-Oakland trade. Read more Oakland Raiders news on BleacherReport.com
