It will be difficult for anyone on the Oakland A's to adequately replace Josh Donaldson's production, but it can be done—in a few ways as a matter of fact.
The 28-year-old third baseman will be sorely missed.
Since truly taking off in Major League Baseball, Donaldson has finished in the top 10 of MVP voting twice. Offensively, he's averaged 91 runs, 26 home runs, 96 RBI and a .363 on-base percentage between 2013 and 2014. He played in 158 games both seasons.
Just last year, Donaldson led the team in games played, runs, hits, doubles, home runs, RBI, walks and extra-base hits.
Though he ...
Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie knows that his job is on the line.
In the three years the team has been under his watch, the rosters that he's built have a combined 11-39 record for a pathetic winning percentage of 28.2%. There's no way to excuse that no matter how you look at it.
To be fair, the situation that he inherited when he took over in 2012 was an absolute mess. The roster was riddled with under-performing players that were vastly overpaid (remember Stanford Routt's five-year, $54.5 million deal?).
Oakland didn't have the personnel to succeed, and the dumpster fire that ...

For the second time in as many seasons, LaMarr Woodley is set to hit the open market. The Oakland Raiders have released the veteran pass-rusher, which will shave more than $5 million off their 2015 cap. Fallon Smith of Comcast SportsNet initially reported the news, and the team confirmed the move on Thursday. Woodley, 30, was due a $3.85 million base salary and was scheduled to receive a $1.19 million roster bonus March 14, per Spotrac. Releasing him before the start of the league year eliminates all of Oakland's financial responsibility, adding even more room to a team that was already flush ...
With five All-Stars now missing and a sixth on the shelf to start the season, the Oakland A's will need five guys in particular to step up and carry the team.
The A's lost three key pieces to the heart of the batting order when they traded Yoenis Cespedes, Josh Donaldson and Brandon Moss. Jeff Samardzija was Oakland's second-half workhorse in 2014, accounting for a 1.8 WAR, best of the pitching group.
Those four and Derek Norris (the fifth All-Star) will not be easy to replace.
Still, while the current group may not fully compensate for the losses, they're very much capable of ...
