It’s better to win a disgusting, penalty-ridden contest than to lose a clean game. The Oakland Raiders accomplished the former with an NFL-record 23 infractions in a poor showing in terms of field discipline and on-field communication.
Nonetheless, when’s the last time the Silver and Black finished the first half of a season at 6-2 or better?
The answer is 2001.
The Raiders' fifth consecutive road victory and sixth win of the season came late in overtime after blowing three real opportunities to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in regulation and overtime combined.
After celebrating a hard-fought win, head coach Jack Del Rio must ...
It’s hard to process a few new NFL realities after the Oakland Raiders’ win Sunday over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We need to go slowly here and absorb everything.
Taking on too much, too fast while thinking about that game could be hazardous to your health. The root of any mental strain may actually depend on your age.
There’s a young generation of NFL fans that have never known a successful Raiders team, or at best, those visions are a faint memory. Oh sure, they’ve heard the folktales from their football-watching elders around the campfire. But to see it with their ...

For many seasons the Oakland Raiders bordered on pathetic on the road, winning just five road games in the previous three seasons before this year. Suddenly, though, Oakland is a very viable bet away from home, going 6-1 straight up and 7-0 against the spread on its last seven road trips. The Raiders play a second straight date in the Sunshine State when they take on Tampa Bay on Sunday.
Point spread: The Buccaneers opened as one-point favorites; the total was 49.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. (Line updates and matchup report)

Oakland Raiders pass-rusher Aldon Smith has reportedly filed for reinstatement to the NFL, with his yearlong suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy set to end Nov. 17.
Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie confirmed the news to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle Wednesday night and said acceptance or refusal of Smith's reinstatement is up to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Per Tafur, Smith completed rehab, and McKenzie is hopeful the league takes the former Pro Bowler's dedication under consideration:
Aldon is working out and getting ready. He is in a great place and that's the main thing. Whether Goodell lets him out or not, that's the ...
It’s time to forget about the theory focusing on West Coast teams traveling poorly into east-coast time zones and instead give credit to preparation. The Oakland Raiders beat their fourth consecutive opponent outside the Pacific Standard time zone with a 33-16 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Silver and Black controlled the game throughout. However, the win came with some rough patches, specifically the chippy and undisciplined play between both teams. The Raiders and Jaguars accumulated a combined 24 penalties, 239 yards lost and three ejections.
Contrary to what many expected, this game didn’t feature two high-octane offenses. Both squads logged 344 ...
On Sunday, the Oakland Raiders hung 33 points on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a resounding victory. This isn't news—the Raiders have fielded the AFC West's best offense for most of the 2016 NFL season.
What is news, however, is a defensive effort that was one of Oakland's best this year.
If the porous Raiders defense can consistently start making stops and keeping pace with the offense, the team would be more than just a contender in the AFC West. It would be the division's most dangerous club.
To say the Oakland defense had struggled entering Week 7 is an understatement. The Raiders came into this week's action ...
Two teams that both had higher expectations this season will square off Sunday in a game critical for each of them as the Oakland Raiders (4-2) visit the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3) in a near pick'em matchup. The Jaguars have won two in a row following an 0-3 start, while the Raiders have three wins by a combined five points and are coming off a brutal home loss to a divisional foe.
Point spread: The Jaguars opened as 1.5-point favorites; the total was 49 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (Line updates and matchup report).
