Fourteen years removed from their last playoff appearance and 33 years removed from their last championship, the Oakland Raiders have for quite some time been trying their damnedest to recapture the franchise's glory days.
You may recall that in those days, the Raiders were mean, intimidating and unconventional. And one immortalized phrase from late owner Al Davis truly encapsulated the team's blunt spirit.
"Just win, baby."

Last year’s Raiders would’ve continued to sputter after tight end Clive Walford failed to reel in a catch on a critical drive and wideout Seth Roberts dropped a pass.
Due to a pass interference infraction on Saints linebacker Craig Robertson, Oakland took full advantage of a second opportunity and put the nail in New Orleans' coffin with a two-point conversion.

The Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints lit up the scoreboard with several momentum swings in a contest that put both fan bases on a respirator.
Quarterback Derek Carr came out of the gate sharp and completed his first six passes for 82 yards. Then, the offense went into conservative mode for about two quarters, which allowed the Saints to swing the momentum in their favor.
Quarterback Drew Brees led his team to 21 unanswered points; he threw three consecutive touchdown passes between the second and third quarters.
With a double-digit deficit, offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave dug into his playbook, which allowed Carr ...
With a loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Oakland Raiders finish the preseason 1-3 after winning the first exhibition game against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Raiders and Seahawks slugged each other through the first half, and the action picked up late. Oakland led 5-3 headed into the fourth quarter. Seahawks running back Troymaine Pope scored the game's first touchdown with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
After a poor start, running back George Atkinson scored both of the Raiders' touchdowns on a one-yard run and an 80-yard kickoff return. However, the Seahawks held on after a failed onside kick attempt for ...

Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area confirmed the news, which keeps McKenzie with the organization through the 2021 NFL draft, and he passed along comments from team owner Mark Davis: "It was time to get something done. Reggie earned it."
McKenzie took over the Raiders roster in 2012 and started a painful retooling process that finally started showing signs of progress last season. Oakland went 7-9 during the 2015 campaign after going a combined 11-37 over his first three years in charge.
